I personally like it the way it is.

Any complaints about Kenny's screentime boil down to his return in general. I can't think of one way of quieting such an opinionated guy. No matter what he's going to be involved in everything. Uh... How about the fact that he overpowers every other character? I'm fine with him sticking his nose in everything, but in Season 1, we got the chance to learn and love the other people, too. Kenny was just as controlling back then, the story just didn't focus on it.

If it weren't for Lee, S1 would have focused on Kenny, too. Clementine, while an interesting character, just isn't bold and authoritative enough to put Kenny in his place the way Lee can or lead the group herself. And the Cabin group were honestly just a bunch of pushovers when it came to dealing with Kenny. There's no one there who willing to manhandle the guy and beat his face in when he's being stupid.

Uh... Sorry, no. It would focus on Kenny not even half as much as Season 2 does. Without Lee, it would've first focused on Lilly and Kenny, while having far more time for the likes of Doug, Carley, Kat, Duck, Larry, and Ben. Then it would've focused on Christa and Kenny, while having more time for Omid, Chuck, and everyone else they meet until the bitter end. Kenny would still be a huge focus, but he would NEVER be as horribly present as he is in season 2.

Doug and Carley achieve relevance only because Lee's there. Christa doesn't directly challenge Kenny either. The thing with Kenny is that he doesn't give 2 shits about what anyone else says. Lee does. In S1, Lee became the de facto leader and was able to steer the power away from Kenny. In S2, there's no such figure. He's free to rush headfirst into whatever with barely any opposition.

This is why Pete shouldn't have died. He would've been a great foil for Kenny. Plus he's actually a good leader.

I think Telltale saw what positive feedback they got from the Kenny character in season 1, decided early on to bring him back and KNEW they had him as a security blanket. As a result, the other characters suffered. Taking the easy way out, pretty much.
Kinda stupid since his overwhelming presence is making those kind of pro-Kenny people into anti-Kenny and making the anti-Kenny people into super anti-Kenny people.

And that's the entire problem - it's not Kenny's fault that he's short-tempered or doesn't agree with people very often (that's who he is - some people like that, e.g. me but others don't) - it's TT's fault that they did not create someone to stand up to him, like Lee/Lily did in S1 (Pete could work, but they killed him).

Even Carlos would have been fine. He seems strong-willed enough and he has someone to protect.

I agree, Kenny got way too much screen time. They did a good job with the time they gave him, but they could have cut it back a bit. Bonnie had a sizable chunk of time, and they did a fantastic job with her character.

Yeah, I hated Bonnie in 202, I knew she didn't like doing what she did, but..well, she made up for it in 203.
Kenny, however... I LOVED when they brought him back, I really liked Kenny, but now that he's always expecting Clem to help out in his 'I'll be Lincoln Burrows, and you be Michael Scofield and let's break out of this camp' plan and he's always overpowering the group(Like harp said) and everyone else doesn't get a chance to shine. I still like his character, but I feel like he's had enough time and episode 4 would be a perfect time for him to go. With Sarita pretty much dying, and him losing an eye, he just doesn't want any more pain. He doesn't want to be a burden to the group. hell, I wouldn't be happy about it, but it'd be quite depressing and fitting to the 'no one is safe' thing. Just my two cents

Doug and Carley would still have butted into the arguments, and they still would've been relevant. The story would've just played out differently. I know Kenny doesn't care, and that's why he still would've been very relevant in S1. Lee only became the leader because Kenny was absent after his son's death, and for no other reason. Someone else would've taken that responsibility in Lee's place. Possibly Chuck.

They would have butted into arguments with Kenny as much as Carlos, Rebecca, and the rest of the cabin group butted into arguments with Kenny. Probably even less seeing as they have much weaker countenances than either Carlos or Rebecca. Neither of them are strong willed enough to actually oppose Kenny and go against what he says. At most they'll chime in with a dissenting opinion, quickly get shouted down, and then follow Kenny into whatever plan he ends up coming with. Just like the cabin group.
Chuck I could maybe see standing up to Kenny a bit more but he barely interacted with the guy so I don't know. But the fact of the matter is that in S1, Lilly and Lee were the only people who directly opposed Kenny's will for any significant period of time. Everyone else just sat back and let him do what he does. Even Lee does so to an extent depending on how you play.

However, if Kenny was leading them without rival, someone would step up. And like you said, Lilly did. She would continue to do so. Christa stood up when she needed to. Chuck wouldn't let Kenny be an asshole if there was no one like Lee aboard.
