I posted this scenario over at Telltale but I want to see what you guys would do:
Carver leads Clementine into a dark room. He flicks on a dim light, revealing Carlos strapped to a chair, badly beaten, barely conscious, and with blood streaming down either side of his face. There's a small knife lying next to him. Sarah is tied up on the floor about 15 ft from Carlos, sobbing uncontrollably.
"Carlos!" Clem cries out. She tries to run to him, but Carver holds her back, gun in hand. She turns to him. "What do you want?" Without speaking a word, Carver goes over to Sarah, grabs her by the hair, and puts his gun to her head.
"No! Stop!" Clem shouts.
Carver, amused, looks over at her. "You want me to stop? Well alright then. That's something I can do for you. But if I'm gonna do you a favor, there's something you gotta do for me."
Clem gets a look of concern on her face. "You see that knife on the floor next to our doctor friend? Pick it up." Clem hesitates. Carver pulls back the hammer of the gun. "Please."
Clem reluctantly picks up the knife. "So here's the thing. Little Sarah here has been begging me for hours not to kill her daddy. I tried to refuse her at first, but I guess she just wore me down. So I made her a promise. I won't kill Carlos in front of her. And I aim to keep that promise. Problem is, I really want him dead. You can see my dilemma. That's where you come in, sweetie."
Clem looks over at Carlos, distraught. "If you wouldn't mind just taking that knife there and plunging into Carlos's brain for me, that would save me a lot of trouble. 'Course, I could always do it myself. But then I'd have to kill poor Sarah here first. Don't want to have to do that. So what do you say? Can you do me that little favor?"
Clem looks down at the knife and then over at Carlos again. He lifts his head slightly. In a broken, raspy voice he mutters "Clem...please...do what he says."
What do you do? Do you make Clem kill an innocent man in front of his crying daughter or do you refuse and let Carver do as he will?

Shamefully, I think I plunge the knife into Carlos' brain. Clementine isn't avoiding hurting someone or being riddled with more guilt regardless so you might as well not get the kid killed.

Before I answer this, I would have to know if Carver would kill Sarah if you don't.

Well, that scene would be horrbile to wathch and would make me really hare Carver. It really is perfect for TWD, I wouldn't mind a scene like this.
But the choice is just brutal. Saying it feels strange, but I would kill Carlos. Honestly, I'm not a fan of Sarah, she annoys me a little, and I started to really like Carlos in episode 2. If I would refuse, even if Carver wouldn't kill Carlos after Sarah, Carlos would hate me. Worse, he would be a completely broken man, probably with no will to live. Sarah obviously means everything to him. We can't forget about Sarah's mental unstability, though. I'm not sure what would happen with her, if I killed her dad in front of her. Fuck, even a normal girl would be largely traumatized for a long time. Sarah could bever be back to normal. At least she would be alive, I guess.
So yeah, I would kill Carlos, hoping it is the right choice. No mattar what would I do, that choice woule bite my in the ass later. I think this is better option, though.

Before I answer this, I would have to know if Carver would kill Sarah if you don't. All you have is what he says he's going to do. If you think he's bluffing, you can try to call him out on it. Of course, if he's not, you'll just have to live with the consequences.

My thought process: - In this situation, Sarah's needs are kind of more important than Carlos's.
- Sarah can't survive without Carlos
- Carlos is more useful alive, Sarah less so.
- Sarah doesn't want her dad to be hurt. If Carver kills her anyway I don't want the last thing she sees to be her friend killing her dad.
- Though it would break Carlos, it makes more sense to let Sarah die if Clementine is allowed to tell her everything is okay, and Sarah doesn't have to watch Carlos die.
- Then if Carver would've killed them both, Carlos would be mentally destroyed momentarily, but then Carlos would hate Clementine forever.
I feel like I'd have to let Carver kill Sarah, as she isn't fit for the apocalypse'd world. Based entirely on logic, Carlos is more useful and him breaking down due to Sarah's death would probably have less radical consequences than Sarah breaking down due to Carlos's death.
Anyone think Walter's 'Steinbeck' reference is hinting towards a future Of Mice and Men-based Clem-Sarah moment where Clem plays the part of George to Sarah's Lennie?

I wouldn't kill Carlos just because Carver asked me to, and especially not in front of his daughter.

I'd take a third option and try to either kill Carver or knock him unconscious(and then kill him). While I can see a few ways this could go wrong(e.g.Carver shooting Sarah, using Sarah as a human shield etc) I still think it's better to have a chance of winning than submitting to his demands and/or threats.

Since it's a choice between Carlos or Carlos and Sarah being dead, I'd just kill Carlos. If there's a third option like Heisenberg suggested I'd take that one.

Before this goes any further, I need to know how this would benefit Carver? He doesn't strike me as the type to be an asshole just for its own sake. He would need to benefit from this some way. If he really wanted Carlos dead, he would kill him himself. What would he gain by having Clementine do the job?

Oh, god. This would be a nightmare... I'd just let Carver do what he wants. For me, the thing that's more important than keeping Carlos and Sarah alive is retaining Clem's innocence. Oh. I'm sorry. Whatever's left of her innocence, anyways. Carver can kill both Carlos and Sarah if he wants to. But my Clem is not killing anyone.

Maybe he could just be sinister and have the whole thing be a controlled experiment as to what Clementine is capable of and how she reacts under extreme circumstances. Clem's choices and actions could be a tell as to how Carver can best control her/utilize her.

Winston indirectly died by Clem pushing him to the walkers as the Stranger got strangled by my Lee. My Lee was left behind to turn.
