I just installed Xcom: Long War Beta 15e. If anyone wants to be a part of this, or have a character incorporated into it, let me know. I will also be including people as I go. Here is my game information: Second Wave Options: Damage Roulette (More variance in damage output) Strict Screening (All recruits start with the same stats) Hidden Potential (Soldiers' level up stats are randomized) Training Roulette (Each Soldier's skill tree will be partially randomized. Does not apply to MEC troopers) Absolutely Critical (Flanking grants a large aim bonus) Commander's Choice (Player can choose soldier's classes) Aiming Angles (Units get an aim bonus the closer they are to flanking an enemy) Hidden Trees (You cannot see perks for levels which have not yet been attained) Miracle Workers (Repairing items costs no resources, only time) The Friendly Skies (Interceptors get a large aim bonus) (Because fuck air combat in these games)
The XCOM Project will be based in South Africa, with the Survival Training Perk Survival Training (All soldiers receive +1 hit point)
I will be adding people from here, and whatever names are suggested as soldiers are assigned classes. I volunteer for eminent death!

We shot down a UFO. Here are the results. 6 recruits attacked the fallen UFO.
All 6 were promoted, with not a scratch on them. Dominic Fox became Dark Fox the infantryman. NOTE: Dark Fox had probably the best kill of the mission. He got a double kill on some mind merged sectoids, at a very low aim percentage.
Hannelrore Schulz became Kat, the engineer.
Cali Banerjee became Bio, the rocketeer.
Tumaini Awori became SonicGX98, the sniper.
Harvey Campbell became IWMT, the gunner. NOTE: Long War adds accented voices to the game. Naturally, I found the worst fan voice actor, and fell in love. He became IWMT's voice.
Ishraqi Salimpur became TKA, the field medic.
After this, we had another mission. Tom Hagen led 5 recruits into battle.
2 recruits remained recruits.
3 recruits were promoted.
Ruslan Novik became Harp, the engineer. NOTE: Ruslan was also present in the first mission, and was one of two (including Tom) to not be injured in the first fight.
Sermin Erbediz became Megan, the assault.
Nasser Khali became Brotato, the scout.

Alright, so I brought Bio, IWMT, Kat, and three recruits on a mission. IWMT and Kat did OK. They got some good kills. Bio did AWFUL.
He came this damn close to killing his entire squad. I had him fire a rocket at some enemies dead ahead of him. Instead of firing at 12 o'clock, however, he fired more to the 2 o'clock range. If he had fired left instead of right, then he surely would've killed Kat and a recruit, and he might have injured IWMT. Thankfully, though, Kat pulled more than her fair share of weight, and wasted the enemies that Bio missed.
All recruits survived and were promoted. They are as follows.
Shinji Kimura became Crackman, the elite 360 noscope sniper. I assign him my favorite shot of the mission award. I put one of the recruits (Heisenberg) into a slightly bad position, so I had Crackman hide just out of sight of the aliens, and hold overwatch. Eventually, one sectoid thought he was being fucking clever when he tried to get behind the other rookie. Crackman fucking creamed him. After that, they never tried to flank that position again.
Judy Mcknight became Heisenberg, the assault.
Guilherme Neves became Deadwaste, the gunner.

And we have our first death. Rest in peace... ... Crackman, the elite 360 noscope sniper. The spawn was shit, so I had to make do with crap cover. I had one of us dash to cover, and he ended up triggering aliens. Crack was flanked by no fault of his own, but had no way to escape. Rest in peace. His death caused Harp to panic. Fuck this mission is off to a bad start. I'll get back to it.

Thankfully, Crack was the only casualty we encountered.
Harp and Dark Fox were promoted.
Harp took the Sapper perk. (Explosives do more damage to enemies and the environment)
Dark Fox took the Will to Survive perk. (Higher damage reduction from cover)

Alright... I haven't updated this in quite a few missions, but I feel that this is update worthy. We lost two more soldiers today. Brotato (scout), Tom Hagen (medic), Megan (assault), Deadwaste (gunner), PikaBlue (sniper), and a recruit were sent in to investigate an abduction. The first enemies we encountered were seekers and a single thin man. The seekers were dispatched easily enough, but the thin man was giving us trouble. So I sent Megan in to attack. Unfortunately, Megan triggered pretty much the entire rest of the level. She held her position for a long time, even managing to kill that one thin man, but eventually, she fell. RIP MEGANMI Skip ahead a few turns, and the sectoids we encountered had been spamming psi panic and mindfray, making all but Brotato and the recruit practically worthless. Brotato, being the scout, has an ability which makes him almost untouchable by overwatch. I needed the recruit to move forward, so we could maybe make a push and kill a few aliens. Unfortunately, when Brotato attempted to trigger the overwatches, BOTH HIT. Brotato died right there, in the middle of the battlefield. The recruit, who had been able to withstand mindfrays and psi panics without being phased, panicked at Brotato's demise. RIP MIND TWIN BROTATO This mission has already ended in tragedy. I hope it doesn't end in failure, too.

I decided we needed to escape. All of us were able to reach the exit, except for Tom. So I had Tom dash to a place where he could escape from in the next turn. Unfortunately, he was gunned down on his way to the exit. The worst part is, he was critically injured, not killed. He was so close to being saved, but there is no safe place to stabilize him from. RIP TOM HAGEN Fortunately, the last of us were able to make it back to the skyranger without incident. SURVIVORS: Deadwaste, PikaBlue, Recruit.
