Okay I am late to the party here, so here I go. Which badass are we talking about? She is badass in the sense she can handle her own, and she is still alive, I do not want her to be a badass like Michone or hell some of my favorite game characters, I guess I would love her to stay a innocent little girl, but we all know that is a pipe dream and a half. That's the exact kind of badass we are talking about, just the ability to handle herself, but for some reason. People still don't believe it.

that type is okay, the badass most people think is more like as I said, the person with swords killing everything, that is not what I want my Clem to be, I want her to be know how to survive and little else.

Well, in this case, one type of badassery tends to lead to the other. Assuming she grows up (which is an unfortunately shakey assumption) I'd expect her to have at least a Lee/Christa-level of being able to taken shit down.

Okay. Some of the dialogue before that was more pro-Ben than others. So in one case she was facing down two angry adults alone, in the other she was facing down two angry adults with one other adult somewhat on her side. In either case, doing what she did when you're just a little kid and doing it as assertively as she did takes nerves. The people who save Batman aren't usually badass, but saving Batman is a pretty badass thing to do, and that's what we're trying to determine. That would have made her a cold-hearted asshole, not the person she wants to be. Someone who lets the world around them dictate who they are is not as badass as someone opposes it out of a conviction in their principles. One of the reasons Batman is badass because despite his world being cruel, violent and full of meaningless death and destruction, he refuses to abandon his principles and kill someone, even though it would be the easier thing to do. It could have been a lot of things. Maybe Omid made some noise that attracted the zombie. Maybe the Stranger was hanging out outside and attracted the zombie. Maybe it was just a random butterfly-effect kind of thing triggered by events that we didn't get to see. You don't know and unless you do, it makes no sense to say that Clem was responsible for it. But what you do know is that Clem on her own was able to deal with a zombie who barged into the house and tried to get upstairs, thereby saving Omid. "It was a mistske," to a raging Kenny. Sounds like you're supporting Ben quite a bit. So its versus one raging adult, and one seething adult against the person that taught her everything that kept her alive. That would be an easy choice to make. But it doesn't make HER badass. It would've made her smart. Granted, Lee didn't turn right there, but if he did, someone would've had Clementine casserole. If it was Omid, then there would've been a zombie both ways. Though you may have something with the stranger, if he HAD been standing out there, why didn't he take her then and there?

Not in episode 5 she isn't. When she dragged Lee into the jewlery store, she just got INSANELY lucky that she didn't die one of a million ways.

Once they calmed down and were rationally deciding what to do with Ben, Lee could have still swung either way. It alone doesn't make her a badass. But foiling your captor demonstrates that you are capable, thus contributing to why she's a badass. It would have made her dead inside. I don't give two shits how "smart" you are, if you abandon someone who has done so much for you and cared so much about you on the chance he's not going to live, you are a coward. Not a badass. I would have lost all respect for her then and there if she abandoned him. And you would too. ...because of the zombie.

If you saw the way the door opened, it wasn't so much foiling anyone, she more likely just pulled until the rope came undone... Well I don't give two shits about how dead you are on the inside, because if you're dead outside, then you'd be dead inside, too. But he has a gun, and he's a grown man, AND if that wasn't enough, Clem Clem took care of it.

She escaped at perfect time to be able to distract him. I was under the impression that she had been listening in throughout the whole thing. It showed that she wasn't okay with just relying on Lee to save her.
Badass heroes die outside. They never die inside.
Shooting the zombie would have created a bunch of noise. Why would he risk it? He already had her trust. Better to just run away and plot.

He could always hit it with something. Or knock it over and stomp it out. Plus, Clem didn't seem to attract too many zombies with her gun.
