What does having seven biomes even mean for a game with zero procedurally generated content? A biome in games like dwarf fortress or Minecraft exists to give variety to the procedural content, and make a more likely world. Does this mean there will be seven locations, or that they're going to copy and paste content from seven different pools, depending on the biome? I think it just means that across the whole world, there are locations that fit within seven different biomes as in styles of the world?? Someone did a map of the whole world on reddit with all the locations and: Like I think it might just mean "forests, desert, mountains, volcanic, snowy" etc. I'm not really sure :P

Also why the fuck is a series about assassins becoming a stealthless boat simulator bc the stealthless boat simulator they did in 2013 was more successful than the two more stealth focused games that followed it, and the open-world combat focused RPG that followed those two was also more successful. Although Ubisoft Quebec as addressed the criticisms about the lack of stealth in Origins and said that they're adding more tools for stealth in Odyssey. I'm gonna play it as a stealth game whether it works or not, so :P Origns had really, really bad stealth but I played it like a stealth game regardless and that was mostly fine outside of boss battles.

Its been five years? My my how time flies. And you could be stealthy with the right perks, mostly the self controlled arrows with a good bow. But yeah it wasn't perfect.

It was less "stealthy" and more just being a good archer.

So I did my third replay of AC Syndicate, finally played AC Rogue(remastered), and i'm in the process of replaying AC Unity.
Syndicate is now officially my favorite AC game. I think the love I have for the characters just gives it a slight edge over Black Flag. Gameplay wise, it really is the perfect version of the pre-Origins AC games, and it has my favorite story of any AC game so far. I'm really excited to see what the devs have managed to do for Odyssey.
Rogue was better than the playthrough I'd originally watched of it led me to believe. I liked getting back into the naval combat, and exploring the world was pretty fun. It's got some of the worst writing of the whole series, though, and Shay is by far my least favorite protagonist. It just fell flat(especially in the Assassination scenes). So, good gameplay and world, bad story. The Modern Day story was surprisingly compelling, though, and I liked getting to know more about Otso Berg(especially since he's basically the de facto main villain of the Modern Day story now).
Unity is... a lot worse than I remember. It's just packed with so much pointless bullshit, the stealth and parkour are the clunkiest of the whole series, and the combat, while fun, just doesn't do it for me. The characters are mostly pretty boring, Arno especially, and the pacing is just way, way too fast. It also takes itself far too seriously. I'm not done yet... but, yeah.
I think I might replay Freedom Cry once I'm done with Unity.

And yeah oh Unity get's worse the more I think about it. Clunky is the word, the fact the only way to avoid a bullet is to jump all around which results in getting stuck on a wall is about the most infuriating thing.

There's an exploration mode that turns off waypoints so you have to use information about the land to navigate to your objective and this honestly sounds like the best thing ever

The episodic model seems really cool. Also AC 3 Remastered is a plus

Well since Odyssesy is soon to come out I finished Origins and wow does it fall apart. It starts off on the worst intro of the series, gets good around the middle for the vast majority before nose diving at the end. Everything after Cleopatra takes the throne is so bloody rushed I couldn't believe it. I thought there was still a mission or two when the credits just rolled. Goddamn. I know it's not fair to say, but why can't all of these games be structured storywise more like 4 or Syndicate?

Yeah Origins really just feels so rushed by the end, I'm hoping Odyssey's story is a lot better. I know that at least the first 8 hours are good. That's what Polygon got the play and the reviewer(Simone) had really, really great things to say about the story.
Unfortunately, I might not be getting Odyssey right at launch, I might have to wait a bit. Lost my job recently. :/

Though it really makes me question how Origins was, well the origin. Ah whatever.
