Good episode. I liked it. Solid 8/10.
Honestly what helped was self-spoiling and knowing what happens to Marlon but not knowing the situation, so while he's completely and utterly Mariana'd I had time to prepare and accept it. Though, unlike Mariana, he flips and goes antagonist beforehand and there's more to his death than cheap shock value so it's easier to stomach. Even though he only lasted one episode, he's still a strong character and his death is going to play a significant role in the future. The impact it's going to have on AJ cannot be avoided. My only gripe is the method of death - personally I would have had him come up behind AJ, which scares him and he turns and pulls the trigger without thinking - I was thinking something like that was going to happen to someone at some point.
While Clementine is still somewhat bland, her character is still more compelling than both season 2 and 3 and it's likely due to her being a playable character. I didn't find any characters particularly irritating in the game except maybe Ruby, unlike ANF where I didn't like anyone except the one character who died in a really dumb way. These characters, even the minor ones, are all pretty memorable and I can probably name the entire group without looking them up. (Marlon, Violet, Louis, Tenn, Brody, Aasim the book dude, Willy the weird little kid, Mitch who is probably Willy's brother, Ruby the Angry Ginger and Chef Omar).
I think for me it was the little things that made the episode as good as it was. AJ checking for escape routes multiple times after I told him in the first scene to do so, and the 'always aim for the head' instruction coming back to bite me.
In that vein, something significant I liked doing was trying to work out what got these kids sent to a "troubled youth" school. Marlon seems to have anger management issues (and for a while I thought Rosie was a therapy dog until it turned out she belonged to the principal), Violet's probably there due to antisocial behaviour, Brody might have some sort of anxiety disorder due to her panic attacks (though I doubt anxiety would get someone sent to a school like that unless the parents are really shitty) but the rest are a bit more of a mystery. I hope instead of them injecting 3 new characters each episode they lock down on the group we've already got here and focus on expanding on characters like Mitch and Omar as time goes on.
Predicting that A) Clementine will become leader now Marlon is dead and it'll be her job to keep everyone safe, B) Abel isn't the big bad and C) It won't feature a new location every episode - or at least the boarding school will be in every episode given how they seem to focus on it being able to be decorated.
So yeah, generally cautiously optimistic. Hopefully they can pull it off.

This episode was leaps and bounds ahead of ANF. I'm so glad that it was actually good! I think I loved it, honestly.
I really liked Marlon, I was rooting for him the entire episode, and I wanted to get on his good side. I can't believe he straight up murdered Brody and then tried to blame me for it! Not to mention he gave up Tenn's sisters.
Speaking of Tenn, I have a feeling that this sort of 'after life' that he's pictured will come into play later. Perhaps, if Clem dies, the season will close with her finding herself at that little house and meeting up with the characters that died along the way. Just a thought.
I love the chemistry between AJ and Clem, there are so many legitimate moments which made me go 'Awwww'. I'm just really shocked that he killed Marlon at the very end! I had hoped that he could redeem himself. AJ whhhhhhhy? I still care about you though.
So, my choices were:
Killed the couple to get the keys Showed myself to Tenn Went hunting with Louis and helped Aasim hunt rabbits Let the baby rabbit go ('Bye bunny!' I'm fucking dead) Convinced AJ to sleep on the bed Attacked Abel Appealed to Louis (I fell for his charms, I kinda like him, and he stepped in front of Marlon! So hey, my trust wasn't misplaced.)
Louis was feeling lost, AJ was ruthless, and I can't remember how everyone else was feeling. I'lll have to check later.

So what happens if you let Abel go? Violet comes in and she's like "what the fuck is this guy?" and then he takes his stuff and goes on his merry way, but he only takes 1 duffel bag and Clem & co keep 2. I figured giving the food to him was worth it if it saved someone's life. What happens if you don't let him take the stuff?

I figured he'd wind up being the second in command for whoever the big bad is in this other group, but he might just be a scrub.

Also I found Abel's voice to be really similar to Carver's... Who voices him?

Yeah, you don’t technically see his death I don’t think, but there’s no way he didn’t get out of that without at least getting bitten

His status is unknown if you throw him to the walkers, since you don't actually see him die.

Maybe he'll be more lenient with people who let him go without trouble idk.

Oh another thing that intrigued me is the mention of the ranch.
And why did Marlon have to give Sophie and Minerva to the adults like... I feel like it's very Bad TouchTM
