A bit bummed that we didn't get to see any interaction between Aku and his self-proclaimed cult (also after the birth scene I have come to agree with the theory that Ashi's mother in a blatant case of hypocresy didn't charcoal/burn her skin).
Other tan that amazing episode with great action and a nice callback to Jack father's quest and how the sword came to be.

You know, in light of this most recent episode, is it weird to say that this season is self insert fan fiction?

Did not like this episode.
Didn't think I'd say that about any of the episodes, but here we are.
EDIT: Leech monster and the cat people were about the only decent things this week.

Well, din't certainly expect that to happen at the end...not sure how to feel about the episode really to be honest. Definitely not one of my favorites. But, on the bright side, by just looking at the preview for the next ep, THE GUARDIAN WILL BE BACK!

Man, I have no idea how anyone signed off on this episode. Nothing of consequence happened. The episode was just a long, painful, cringeworthy, and awkward journey to get Ashi and Jack to hook up. It absolutely did not need to happen. Should not have happened. I was really psyched for their relationship to be more along the lines of mentor and student, not this cliche romance crap. I only accept cliches in 80's action movies.
In my opinion this episode should have served as the setup for the final battle with Aku. Scaramouche finally reaches Aku and tells him that Jack is missing his sword, so Aku gets reinvigorated and takes a massive army of robots out to finish Jack off. On Jack's end the Scotsman shows up with his new army, which includes some of the people Jack previously helped (Like the three archers) and after a little heartfelt talk about how the Scotsman, Jack's only friend, is dead now Jack takes leadership of the army.
But we got none of that. Just Ashi and Jack doing fuck all until they decided to fuck. We're no closer to beating Aku than we were last episode. And it ticks me off.

My oppinion about this episode. Genndy Tartakovsky has really got something for pointless romantic plots between characters with zero chemestry latelly (see confirmation about "Ilanca" being canon and those mediocre Hotel Transylvania films)
I do however apreciate it on some level since now I had a good counterpoint when anyone tries to mistify Genndy Tartakovsky works as being "so much better than those silly modern cartoons"(not that I'm denying that Samurai Jack was one of the crowning archievements of western cartoons or the fact that without Dexter Lab the landscape of cartoons in the 90's, 00's and 10's would be way different)
Edit: the fact that I'm alligning with most of the tumblr community makes me shudder.

This is extremely concerning.
Genndy has 40 minutes to conclude this series and they had to shoehorn in a love interest at this point. I'd have settled for a mentor/apprentice type relationship with Jack and Ashi, but this does not make sense at all.
I swear if Ashi has a major influence on the ending, I'm going to be livid. The beginning of this season was the best.

You mean you don't want Jack dying and Ashi being the one who kills Aku???

Honestly, if the season ends on a really damn good high note or if it will be crap, I still enjoyed the season nonetheless and I prefer it over the other crappy reboots of TTG and PPG. I'm just glad that we're finally getting a conclusion to the series, wether good or bad we will see.

I don't believe romance is something Genndy is very good at.
