One of "Aku's daughters" being Jack's first human victim? What about the bounty hunters from that episode of season 4? Nah apparently Jack just put them to sleep... With his sword. -__-
But really my biggest complaint is the fact that they had moved away from one of the biggest hallmarks of the original series: Quiet tension scenes. Sure the music they used is good but even then it just feels out of place, like it was added on post-production or something. You would imagine that since the series is now for adults and there shouldn't be problems about your audience having a short attention span which would allow for long and protracted silent scenes. But no, here's some music.
Still getting used to Aku's new voice actor but his first scene was gold, good to see that the Master of Darkness din't lose his sense of humor. But holy shit, the scenes with Jack talking to his old self and his old self trying to convince Jack to commit suicide, to Jack killing one of the Aku Daughers and the White Wolf scene, they were Dark as shit. If this was made many years ago, parents would flip their shit. Overall, awesome episode. I can't wait for the next episode.
I actually swore out loud when that wolf got bitten and blood came out. Like, damn, this is Samurai Jack, there's oil and shit but never blood. Same when he cut the daughter's neck. My reaction was almost like his.
Crypt scene was awesome though. As was the rest of the episode, the crypt scene was just the standout in my mind. Can't wait for next week.
"I cannot be caged. I cannot be controlled. Realize this as you die, ever pathetic, ever fools!"
Gotta say, I din't expect the wolf to be still alive and help out Jack. Really liked the flashback of kid Jack and his dad. Jack killing the rest of the Daughters was brutal but awesome. I'm guessing that the last daughter, Ashi, survived the fall considering that Jack fell in the same way she did and they'll be working together in the next episode.
I think it was stated somewhere that the Guardian will be addressed in this season. By 'addressed' either it means that the Guardian will come back so then Jack can beat him and use his portal after he gets his sword back, thus fulfilling the prophecy or Jack will mention him and it will be revealed that Aku killed him and destroyed the portal but hopefully not. Hell, the Guardian episode foreshadowed season 5 so the former definitely has to happen.
