So this came out today! Currently available on Steam for $17.99.
I'm not sure how many people know about it, but Among the Sleep has been one of my most anticipated games this year. Basically the plot is you play as a two-year-old child searching for his mother in a surreal, dreamlike world while contending with monsters as a kid might imagine them.
I'm not terribly far, but I've been enjoying it. Very spooky and unsettling, kinda like diet Amnesia so far. And they do a great job incorporating that feeling of childlike vulnerability. I can assure you I've been hugging my virtual teddy as much as I possibly can.
Anyone else checked this out yet? If so, tell me what you think!

That game looks terrifying. As a horror title it looks great, but I'm really not into horror that much myself. The scariest I'll go is Dead Space (the first one, the sequels weren't scary at all) and Doom 3 where the terror can be mostly cancelled out with the help of heavy ordnance.

For the most part, I'm not either (at least for video games; I can watch the worst horror films completely stone-faced but can't get more than 20 minutes into a scary video game). But every so often, one catches my eye and I feel I have to face my fears and give it a shot because the premise is so interesting. And Among the Sleep is definitely interesting; the horror so far is very psychological though, which always gets to me the most. As well as first-person viewpoints. Dead Space looks terrifying, though. I'm sure I couldn't get more than 10 minutes into that one.

Among the Sleep certainly does look interesting, and I'd be lying if I said that the premise didn't pique my interest at least a little but. I'll probably end up watching a playthrough on Youtube because I doubt I could make it very far in if I played by myself.
Perhaps the reason that I kept playing Dead Space was that it was Sci-Fi, just like Doom, and I love my Sci-Fi. The first Dead Space was pretty scary, but (in addition to being Sci-Fi) I always had my trusty Plasma Cutter with me and that made me feel pretty safe. If I could pull a rocket launcher out of my diaper in Among the Sleep then I might be able to get through it, but even then I'd be scared out of my mind.

Outlast wasn't scary when watching a Youtube video IMO. Not sure about the game, though.
Anyway, Among the Sleep looks really cool, I've seen the demo and I'm excited. I have a feeling that the teddy bear is gonna be the best character in this.

I'm glad I could introduce it to people! Hope you all enjoy it, hahaha.
Finally came up against my first monster (for the most part right now it's just been a lot of psychological panic), and it had me shaking.

Ah, finally finished it. Not overly terrifying, but the 'monster' was creepy. The game had a nice little ending, and I really loved all the simple puzzle solving bits. Also, Teddy was awesome. No wonder he was voiced by Roger Jackson. I liked the atmosphere of the game after the jigsaw puzzles when the monster was creeping around. I was on edge for most of the game after that.
Really liked it. Probably would've never gotten to this game if you never mentioned it, soltis. Thanks!
