Frozen

Oh for me it's I see the Light, either Mother Knows Best or I have a dream, then When Will my Life Begin? Come to think of it, that's not a lot of songs, Beauty and the Beast had 10, Frozen had 10, this has, 6 or seven depending on how you see it, huh, well anyway, on to the villains list!

Yeah, that was rather humorous. 

I'm aware, it's Ken Levine's favorite Disney movie, but that's not really why I like either of them, they are very unique on there own, really the only thing they have in common is a love of books, and there starting appearance has a ponytail, and Elizabeth's starting outfit does vaguely look like Belle's village dress, that, and there voice actresses really know how to sing, also ironically the voice of Elizabeth used to work on a Disney sitcom, and apparently they also hired Jesse Corti to do some of the bystanders in Infinite, and he voice La Fu in Beauty and the Beast.  Anyway I love both of those characters quite a lot. 

Okay, here I go, here is my top 12 personal favorites out of the Disney Princess's, oh god, I am so going to step on some toes here, for the record, there 13 but I am using 12, you will see why soon enough, and if my descriptions on some of the early ones seem brief, it's because there is really not much to say about the early princesses, there really isn't that much, okay, *deep breath* here I go, I am so going to be murdered by someone for this.

12, Aurora, Sleeping Beauty, okay people often say that the Disney Princess's never do anything, it's just sit around, do nothing, let someone else decide your fate, you know, that sorta shit. I disagree with that notion a lot, but if I had to give them credit, they are right about Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, it's funny because this movie has there best villain, and at the same time, there worst lead. Seriously, think about it, what the fuck does she do exactly? Other then sit around, do nothing, sing, look pretty, and get put to sleep for a large part of the movie? Yeah, NOTHING! This is the character everyone bitches about, she is just not interesting at all, there is nothing to her, that is it.

11, Pocahontas, Pocahontas, this is generally considered to be the worst film of the Disney Renaissance Era, and I agree. It's not because it's historically inaccurate, though it really, really plays loose with the facts, but it's not good because it's just boring. Case in point, Pocahontas, I'm sorry but she is not interesting, she might be independent like a lot of the better princess's, but her actions are one thing, her personality is something very different. She is just dull, her singing voice is good and those songs themselves are good, but that's it, I actually can't sum up her personality, she fails the Red Letter Media test, that's not good. All in all, a low point for such a great era of animated movies, and a low point for the Disney Princess line up, they can do better.

10, Snow White, Snow White, gotta love how the early movies were the same name of the main character, what a pain that is to write. Anyway, Snow White, the first Disney Princess, and she kinda falls into the pitfall all of the early princess's fall into, which in itself is mostly because of the era. There is sadly not much to her other then being very kind and nice, which is something you can say of pretty much all the other princess's, but I feel all the hatred towards her is not as well founded as Aurora. She acts a mother to the dwarfs, she is all they have, and she cares about them deeply, that is already a massive improvement over Aurora. But still, she is one of the weaker leads, but she is not awful, not the worst start to a venerable line up of female leads, but certainly not the best.

9, Cinderella, Cinderella, oh Cinderella, how much hate you often get. My god, she gets more hate then Aurora, which kinda blows my mind, because I think she is actually the best of the classic era, which might not be saying much, but it is what it is. She works really hard, deals with all this abuse from a complete asshole family, and yet still finds something to be happy about, that is actually not a bad lesson right there, and this is coming from the supposed worse example. Other then that, there isn't much else to her, but I feel that's enough, she is not the worst, better then some of the modern leads? Hell no, but she is not the worst, something I wish some people would learn.

8, Jasmine, Aladdin, this is going to piss some people off I know, but I don't think Jasmine is the best princess, yes she is kind and sweet and doesn't want to be a princess, but then after a while she kinda goes 180 and is okay with it, what? That and she has to be constantly saved by Aladdin, like three times, not good I have to say. She is not a bad lead, I mean I do buy the romance in Aladdin, even if it IS the three day romance Disney get's hated on so often, but she is not one of the better ones, not at all.

7, Ariel, The Little Mermaid, oh god do I hope my teachers wife is not reading this, I have to confess, Ariel is usually hated as one of the worst leads, I don't think she is one of the worst, but she is neither the best. She does complain a lot, a teenager trait that doesn't show up in the later princess's, and the songs she sings when you really get down to it, are just sing complaining, that and she does cause a lot of trouble and kinda gets away with it in the end. People often forget that when this movie came out, they actually praised her as a good example, hard to believe in this modern age but they did, she was the first true independent lead, and seeing how the last princess was Aurora, well, I can easily see why people thought Ariel was a improvement. So no I don't hate her as much as a lot of people do, but I don't like her also as much as some people also, if I had to pick a side, I guess you can put me in the sorta like category, and nothing else!

6, Meridia, Brave, the fact Pixar even made a Disney Princess movie still blows my mind to this day, now well it's not my absolute favorite Pixar movie, I do like it, more then a lot of people it seems. The lead is not a bad one either, I see her as Pixar's take on Ariel minus the mermaid part, yes she does complain a lot like Ariel, she doesn't want to be a princess like Jasmine, she is free spirited like Rapunzel, and yes she does start the main conflict of the movie, but hey, at least she apologies for it? And also knows how to use a bow and arrow??? She is not my favorite, and in retrospects is a composite of a lot of the princess's, but hey, like I said, she does at least acknowledges her mistakes, and I really like her voice actress, that's a plus.

5, Tiana, Princess and the Frog, this movie get's overlooked a lot, and I feel that's a shame, because it has a great villain, and a really good female lead. She is a workaholic, a trait I never expected to see in a Disney movie, is independent like a lot of the early ones, wants to open up a restaurant in honor of her late father, and is determinant as hell to see that dream come true. And yes, she was the first black princess, my only comment on that subject is, big deal, people made a bigger deal out of that then they really should have, they would have had a better argument if she was a bad character, but she isn't. Really the only downside is the ending, which is sadly the whole three day romance thing that Disney gets oh so much hate, that's really it, and in hindsight, it could be far worse a problem. But things were just getting started, this was the last time Disney would ever do the three day romance move, and there next couple of shots would be pretty great.

4, Mulan, Mulan, arguably one of the most badass of the princess's, and without question the one to have killed the most, Mulan, the only princess with a body count... in the thousands. She secretly enlists in the army so that her old father doesn't have to go, and ends up saving all of China and like I said, killing a couple thousand invaders. Yeah, it's pretty damn easy to see why people love her, hell I am one of those people that really like her. She is great, hell in the end she turns down the reward just to have a normal life, that is rare. Mulan, a princess in battle that kicks a lot of ass.

3, Rapunzel, Tangled, once again if I had made this list last week, I would have probably put Rapunzel farther back, but after rewatching Tangled, that would have also been a disservice. I had never heard of Mandy Moore before this movie, I sure do now. She is independent like all the good princess's, but she also has a simple yet nice little dream, to see a bunch of lights in the sky that appear on her birthday. She is determinant as hell to see these lights, even disobeying her "mother" to go and see this spectacular sight. She is smart, seeing how books are really all you got when your trapped in a tower for 18, kinda similar to another female lead I really love... Anyway she is naive, but not as naive as someone like Anna, she is aware the world is dangerous, but that won't stop her from achieving that dream. She is also very loyal to family and to friends, and is generally sweet and nice. If she has a flaw, it is because she is a bit to loyal at times, and can be taken advantage off perhaps a bit easily, but that is not really a bad flaw, it makes her more human, everyone has flaws, and her having flaws makes her a better character. Oh and she is one of two female leads that has a special power, this being the ability to bring back what has been taken away from someone, like age or heal a wound, very helpful. All in all, a great lead to a great movie.

2, Anna and Elsa, Frozen, okay I am sorta cheating on this one seeing how it's two people on the same slot, and also seeing how one of them is NOT a princess, but I digress. Anna and Elsa, two sisters that are so similar, yet so different. You got the younger of the two, Anna, a naive girl who yearns for just two things, someone so that she can never be alone again, and being friends with her sister again. Like I said, she is naive as hell, but it makes sense, seeing how she was stuck in a castle for 13 years, that kinda does that to you. Unlike Rapunzel, who does fear a lot of things in the world for good reason, Anna is fearless, she doesn't seem to fear much, and that can be a valuable trait, and a trait that can really, really bite you in the ass. Remember how I said Rapunzel can be a bit to trusting? Well Anna takes that up to another level, seeing how she tries to marry someone she just met! Like I said, very naive, but she eventually becomes less naive as time goes on. She also really, really cares about family, especially her sister, even willing to die just to save her. Now moving onto Elsa, the other female lead with a power, except while I would call Rapunzel's power a gift, this is one I would certainly call a curse. She has the ability to control ice and snow, though control is probably the wrong word. She doesn't really know how to control it, and the people of there land fear what they don't understand, it's something of a quandary. So in the interest of family and the people around, she stays in her room, never coming out for 13 years, just to make sure she never hurts her beloved sister ever again. Oh, and they can sing reaaaally well, I had never heard of Idina Menzel, but I sure as the sun will rise do now. Kristen Bell surprised me to, before I always remembered her as the girl from Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but now, she is forever Anna to me. Yeah, if it wasn't obvious enough, I really like these characters a lot, they are flawed, but human, they are just two of the reasons why Frozen was such a good movie.

1, Belle, Beauty and the Beast, if I am one thing in this world, it's predictable. This choice should come as no surprise to anyone, but I really don't care. Oh man, where do I start with Belle? Well she is independent, like the best princess's, but she was the first really great independent lead. She lives a normal dull life, or as she puts it, a provincial life, she wants more then just an average life. But she doesn't want feet, or a prince to take her away, no, she wants something greater then herself, something grand, something amazing, something she can barely comprehend, which is rather deep when you think about it. She cares a lot about her father, the only family she has left, and does all she can to help and motivate him. She loves literature, books of all types, from Romeo and Juliet to fairy tales, her average day is usually reading a book. The town she lives in constantly gossips about how strange it is to have a woman in the 18th century be so independent and reading so much, yet those words fall on deaf ears. She doesn't care what the people think of her, she could care less what anyone thinks of her. People are always pointing out how beautiful she is, but she doesn't care about it, she is aware she is pretty, but she doesn't care, she doesn't use it to her advantage at all. She is also very kind, and when I mean nice, I mean the nicest princess Disney ever made, I mean good god, even when she insults someone, she says it politely. She does have her limits though, she might be the kindest, but when blackmailed or forced into a bad situation, she will not respond nicely, she will speak her mind. She is also a very non violent person, but when pushed up against a wall will fight back instead of give up. She also is not a damsel in distress like the classic princess's, yes she has to be saved once, but she also saves the Beast twice, and both of those times she wasn't forced to do so, she could have just left, not done a thing. And then there is that voice, oh man, Paige O'Hara might be in my opinion, is one of the best singers Disney ever hired, and she was not famous at all, and really didn't go on to do much after the movie outside of some Broadway here and there. Her voice is fantastic, both talking and singing voice. I could go on for quite sometime as to why Belle is the best female lead Disney has ever done, hell she is the most universally accepted Disney Princess, and even the haters generally like her, that is beyond rare. She even was the only female animated character nominated for AFI top 100 greatest hero's and villains, no other female lead, let alone Disney Princess even got nominated. So yeah, Belle is the best simply put, this my friend, is as certain as the sun, rising in the east.

That was my top 12 list, and once again, this list was incredibly subjective, if you liked some of the princess's I hate, well, it's your opinion and right to disagree, I won't hate you for it. Good day, I am happy to have you people be my guest for a few minutes, and will be back soon enough.

Or 11, or 12 in this case seeing how there is 13 characters, gotta love that I have only had really one top 10.

I seen that, and laughed pretty hard too. Although I now want to read this person autobiography if they have ice powers and can create living snow men.
