Chapter 1
It’s been two weeks since the group left the St. John’s family dairy.
“Looks like this is our lucky day.” Said Kenny who was right next to Lee Everett. They were making a run to the Everett Pharmacy. They figured they could get the last of the supplies that was inside.
“Yeah, this might actually go smoothly.” Lee responded in a happy tone. Kenny adjusted his backpack and replied, “We deserve it after last time.”
Lee and Kenny kept walking until they reached the Pharmacy entrance, which wasn’t open of course. A helicopter seemed to have crashed through, shattering the building to pieces.
Kenny groaned. His gunshot wound was still bothering him. He was shot in the stomach by Andy St. John, and he was worried he wasn’t going to make it when he first was shot.
“You made up your mind yet?” Kenny asked.
“About what?” Said Lee.
“When it comes to gettin’ the hell outta Macon. I bet you’re in the ‘let’s stay camp’ considering I been pushin’ everyone to leave.” Kenny was a bit harsh to Lee. Larry had almost died in the locker if it wasn’t for Mark trying to grab the salt lick from Kenny, if he hadn’t been there..Kenny would have killed Larry.
“We should stay, Kenny. We’ve made an all-right go of it so far.” Lee voiced his opinion, but Kenny didn’t like that.
“Fucking figures. It’s only a matter of time before you and Lilly and her dad puts a white picket fence around that shit hole.” Kenny growled.
“Kenny, what the hell is your problem?” Lee asked. He was tired of being pushed around by him and his ‘give you hell’ attitude.
“You are my fucking problem, Lee. You don’t care about me and my family. Sorry if I don’t take kindly that.” Kenny let everything out.
“That’s what you think? Are you fucking serious? Just because I don’t agree with you on everything, doesn’t mean I don’t give a shit about your family. Grow the fuck up.” Lee said to him.
“Let’s just get inside there.” Kenny clenched his fist, and walked forward. Lee walked behind him.
“Okay, just like last time. Over the rig, into the pharmacy and scrape together whatever supplies are left.” Kenny ordered as he stared at the ladder.
“We didn’t leave much in there.” Lee said.
“Something is better than nothing, Lee.” Kenny frowned.
Kenny grabbed the handle of the ladder and climbed up. He got to the top and the top ladder bar broke off.
“Shit.” Kenny said.
“What?” Lee asked.
“The ladder’s come loose. I’m not sure how many trips she’s got in her.”
“I’m not sure how many trips we’ve got in us.” Lee said.
“No kidding. See what you can do and get the hell up here.” Kenny ordered Lee.
Lee looked at his surroundings, he saw an army Jeep, at least he thought it was an Army Jeep.
“You expectin’ to push that?” Kenny asked.
“Got any better ideas?” Lee retorted. Kenny mumbled under his breath after that last sentence. Lee kept trying to push it, but it didn’t budge. He went to the front of the jeep and saw a towing cable. He grabbed it and pushed forward and clipped it behind the tire.
“Lilly isn’t doing so good, huh?” Kenny asked.
“You could have killed her goddamn dad.” Lee growled.
“What if he didn’t wake up, huh? I was preparing.”
“You weren’t preparing, you were ready to drop a salt lick on his head.”
“Fuck you, Lee. I wanted to keep everyone safe.” Kenny retorted.
“Whatever, man.” Lee walked back over to the Jeep and clicked the button to activate the towing.
“Is your girl still upset about me taking food from the station wagon last week?” Kenny asked.
“Hopin’ ain’t worth a damn.” Kenny shook his head. The jeep stopped where it needed to go and Lee jumped on top.
“Duck was asking about that guy at Hershel’s farm last night.” Kenny said.
“Really? Wasn’t sure it phased him.” Lee said.
“Of course it did.” Kenny replied.
“It was a scary situation for him; Shawn dying and all.” Lee wanted to cut the chatter and get busy.
“I’m just worried he’ll think it’s his fault.” Kenny worried and he knelt down and reached for Lee’s hand.
“You sure you’re up for this?” Lee wondered. Kenny scoffed and held down his hand longer.
“Take my hand, Lee.” Kenny grabbed Lee’s hand and tried to pull him up. Kenny groaned and Lee fell on the jeep, his head hitting the jeep’s windshield, shattering it to pieces. Lee groaned and got up.
“What the hell happened? Thought you said you could handle it!” Lee growled.
“You ever been shot, asshole? Christ.” Kenny said. Kenny looked up as soon as he heard a scream. Lee turned around and looked into the street.
“What the hell is that, a walker?” Kenny asked a stupid question.
“Really!? It’s been three and a half months and you think walkers can scream!?” Lee scoffed.
“Oh god!” The screaming turned out to be a woman, who ran into the street, attracting walkers.
“Shit! We gotta get in the pharmacy and go before they get us too!” Kenny said as he put down his hand again.
“We can’t just leave her, Kenny!” Lee yelled at him.
“Fine, go save her. I’ll do something useful and grab supplies.” Kenny sighed and he got up and went inside the pharmacy.
“Kenny, get back here! Goddamn it!” Lee yelled as he jumped off the jeep and ran to help the woman. He recovered a cleaver from the car of supplies. He wished he still had his axe, but the St. Johns had taken it from him. A walker grabbed her shoulder and almost took a bite out of her. But Lee was there to slice the zombie’s head before the walker could do anything to her.
“Get off her!” Lee kicked the walker that was grabbing her leg, then he slashed the walker’s head open.
“Run!” Lee pointed over to where to run to. Lee saw that there was six walkers in front of him and he quickly thought of how to handle this. He ran up to the first walker and kicked it back, it fell to the ground, he then slashed the second zombie that was just an inch behind him, four more trailed behind him. The zombie he kicked to the ground got up and attacked him from behind. He tried to pull himself off the zombie, and he did. He then slashed that zombie in the head. The four left walked forward and Lee slashed one zombie and the cleaver got stuck in the zombie’s head. Two zombies grabbed onto him and he struggled to keep their teeth away from his arm. The two zombies dropped dead from gunshots. He looked behind him and saw Kenny firing at the walkers. He fired another bullet to kill the third zombie. Lee kicked the zombie off, releasing the cleaver from the head. Lee finally slashed it in the head, killing it.
“Let’s fucking go!” Kenny yelled. Lee ran and the girl that he had just saved came with.
