For those who don't know what the Rift is, check out this page and then try watching a few videos of it. Dev kits are out, but personally I'm waiting for the less expensive consumer version. Main thing that reminded me about the Rift and gave me the idea for this thread, was this video I was linked(no pun intended) to. Looks pretty cool, huh?

Yeah, but I'm gonna wait a long while before touching this. The guy in the video said that it made him queasy. I feel like anybody who gets carsick will feel the same.

That's the main problem, it causes motion sickness, but unlike 3D and motion control, VR tech has a use and it a nice addition, so yeah I am waiting for a cheaper, and less queasy version, but when it comes, SCORE!

I really want to try out No More Room in Hell, TF2, and Zelda 1 on this.

Get hyped again. There's new technologies coming to light, and they're coming to light quickly.
Let's start with the brand new company.
And then Sony's Rift called Morpheus.
You can bet money that Xbox is going to jump in on this. This is going to be the next big boom.
My money is that the new company will have the best technology, but the fewest games... Unless it gets bought by Xbox, or maybe Nintendo

So... Uh... None of you guys care anymore? Just because Rift isn't what it was going to be doesn't mean the ideas are dead. This is going to be huge.

But the thing is, one of the first things Mark said after the 2 million dollar purchase was that he was really looking forward to implementing a shitload of in-game ads... I'm paraphrasing, of course, but that's just because I can't find the actual quote. I know he said something that basically meant that. Imagine if that was implemented in games that are already out- like seeing Mcdonalds, KFC, and film posters everywhere in Half-Life or Skyrim. That would be a pretty big problem, completely breaking whatever immersion you would have had by advertising real products that don't exist in that game's world/lore.

Well if you watched the video on my second post, then you'd have heard this: Facebook doing that would heavily cripple the system, and Facebook doesn't want that. Facebook is far smarter than that. They may do that eventually, but only once they make some money back, prompting proper game companies like Nintendo and Sony to hop in. THOSE two DEFINITELY won't do that. They're smart. I really hope that Nintendo hops in. They're a really creative company, and I wanna see what they can do with it.

I hope so to, but there last attempt at VR didn't go well, so maybe they won't try due to past failures, I hope that is not the case though.
