I wonder who else they were thinking of making the PC for season 2.

Yep, I was not happy the first day I heard that, I started to like the idea a few days later, you get those throw back lines that are amazing, and it does not feel like a rehash of the first season. My thoughts EXACTLY. I thought playing as Clem would let us disregard everything Lee taught her, but it turned out to be a good idea!

Yeah it works better then I thought it would, I mean back a few months I wanted it to be someone new, or Omid or Kenny, but now that I think about it, this is the best way to go that does not alienate anyone, I mean I would be okay with playing as Kenny, but not everyone is, with Clem, it's a good balance.

No it isn't. And playing Clem makes Lee's final decisions largely pointless except for one fucking line, that I didn't even know related to the final conversation because Clementine disregarded all of my fucking advice, so instead, she said I taught her to shoot a gun.

I think what they were going for with having Clem as the PC was because they figured that players would play her in a similar way they did Lee, making similar choices to the ones they made in Season 1, which would give the effect of Clem following Lee's example because the same force (the player) that controlled Lee would be controlling Clem. I'd still prefer playing as an all new character, though, even though they handled Clem as the PC better than I initially expected them too.

They handled her BETTER than I thought, but still pretty shit. Also, I was fine with the idea of a brand new character, so long as he was distinguishably different from Lee personality-wise, but too bad they picked Clementine, and now instead of scumbag ________ there's fucking villain Clementine.

That is madness, come on, you can freely hate on it if episode 2 sucks.

I can also freely hate on episode 1, because it DID SUCK. Season 2 Episode 1 did have its problems, but I'm going to try to counter most of the ones I think you'll try to bring up: No meaningful choices until the very end? Season 1 Episode 1 did the exact same thing. It'll get better, fast- just like Season 1 did. The main character being Clem- as I mentioned earlier in this very thread, people would be pissed no matter what character they picked, so they decided to go for the one that would please most of the fanbase. Too short? Fans rushed TellTale- granted, TellTale probably waited a while longer until announcing the game if it was so far from completion. Not knowing enough about the characters- that's the point. You might not like it, but the game's doing its job for that aspect. Any more? Whatever criticism you have for All That Remains, I have a rational explanation for it.

Whatever criticism you have for All That Remains, I have a rational explanation for it. S1E1 had meaningful and hard choices, not only the last one. TO save Duck or Shawn was 50/50 percent, it was a hard decision for many players, and to give Irene the gun or not wasn't easy too. Better than S2 choices, 3 of them were totally one sided and probably unimportant. Please most of the fanbase? Well, after they announced Clem as PC, I saw A LOT of people hating that idea. I think if they gave us someone new, people wouldn't hate it from the beginning, only if the character turns out to be shitty in the game. I admit, they handled playing as Clem better than I expected, but I still don't like that idea. And if TTG was rushed by fans, it's their fault. They gave us "coming soon" in october, everyone expected to have it in early november. If they gave us a release date earlier, even if it would be in january, fans wouldn't be so pissed. They wouldn't have false expectations for november at least. It's not like we don't know ENOUGH about characters, we don't know anything about some of them. A scene where Clementine talks to cabin members wouldn't hurt. If Alvin dies soon, people aren't gonna cry, unless he finally gets some screen time.

Whatever criticism you have for All That Remains, I have a rational explanation for it. I'll counter them. As I always do. Thing is, S1 was a lot about what kind of PERSON you are. The choices then reflected that. Did you give Irene the gun? Did you lie to Hershel? All of them said something about who you are as a PERSON. None of the choices from S2 E1 did. And all of them were 90% 10% except Nick/Pete. But they shouldn't let approval dictate artistic measure. That's when I lose ALL respect for ANYTHING. You could be Vince fucking Van Gogh, and I'll start hating you if you include a boat if you think someone will like it more, and it detracts from it. I didn't actually give a shit about the length. The characters were literally the only thing done WELL here, aside from Rebecca and Clem. You know what I'm going to say, let's say it together... 1, 2, 3, "CLEM-WAS-FUCKING-MONOTONE." I don't care that it makes sense, I don't care if there's a message behind it, if your main character only sounds like she gives a shit when she's being a villain, and you're supposed to root for her, you've done something MAJORLY wrong. What's even worse is that people AREN'T judging Clementine on who she is now, but who she WAS. A beautiful little girl with the light of the world in her eyes. Now she's a sociopath.
