The room Jade and Kei had been taken to was, all things considered, a pretty up scale room. The only thing that made it look somewhat bizarre was the complete absence of any windows.

Walls and floor made of gold, with two beds on either side of it, a table in the centre and paintings hanging on the walls. Of course, the door was locked.

Kei was still unconscious, lying on the bed while Jade was trying, and failing to get the door open.

"Come on, come on..." She muttered, pushing it then pulling it before giving up on that and going over to look over the doors hinges instead.

And then the door opened, with Durga, Isa and Mirai on the other side.

"...Durga." Jade blinked, as the woman walked in. "I-... We woke up here, what happened?"

"Deborah's dead, Jade. We know what you let her out." Durga said.

Jade frowned, looking over at the still unconscious Kei before sighing. Noticing both Isa and Mirai standing behind her. "...Did those two tell you that?"

Jade clicked her tongue. "I'm not going to."

Isa narrowed her eyes, as Durga walked over towards the table.

"...Well? Have a seat." Durga told her. Jade rolled her eyes and did so. "...You'll have to understand. Your carriage crashed into our balcony, then Deborah came out of it clad in crystal armour and assaulted my husband. I'm going to want to know what that was about."

Jade put her hand to her chin, looking over to Kei again. "...Yeah, that makes sense.

You know, it's not like I wanted that to happen."

"What do you mean by 'that'?" Isa asked. "The carriage crashing?"

"No you little- well, I didn't want that to happen, but I mean I didn't want any of that to happen, at all!" Jade declared.

Isa kept her eyes narrowed. "...Well, it's true, but I don't know if it's conclusive."

"...Hm..." Jade looked back over to Kei again.

"Hey, c'mon. If it wasn't anything bad, you should be fine telling us, right?" Isa asked.

"...I'll tell Durga. But not you two." Jade said.

"That's not going to work." Durga shook her head. "Anything you tell me, you should be able to tell them."

"Those two wouldn't understand, but I know you would." Jade stated.

"She will understand." Jade said, like repeating it a second time would make it any more true.

"Okay, different question then. Why don't you think these two will understand?" Durga asked.

Jade scoffed. "...Durga, we're still friends, right?"

"That depends." Durga answered, coolly.

The green haired lady frowned. "...I wanted to talk to Deborah from the start. She may have been allied with the Balanque kingdom, but everyone involved with those guys was just doing their own thing. A woman like that, no way she would've been loyal to a old tyrant like that. She was playing him, she and his son both. Maybe Donovan too."

"I wanted to know what she was trying to get out of everything. Why she destroyed the Smith Kingdom, what she was trying to get out of all of this.

I don't know what she was spouting when you were asking her all of those questions." Jade said.

"That's not true." Isa called her out immediately.

"...Well, since you just tried to lie about it. What was she 'spouting', as you put it?" Durga asked.

"Do you need to ask me, it was like she was trying to goad Mirai into getting angry and attacking her. Dumb of her to do that, that carriage was so small Kei could've gotten hurt in the middle of it." Jade muttered.

"I was surprised she was putting it like *that*, when I asked about it, she said she was going to use the power as collateral so the demons would be indebted to her and end the war." Jade explained.

"And you were okay with that?" Isa asked.

"...At the time." Jade said, looking back over to Kei again.

"Don't worry about him. He's going to be fine, assuming you cooperate." Durga assured her.

Jade's gaze did not shift.

"He agreed with me, of course." Jade said.

Isa tilted her head, "But... what did he think? Did he trust Deborah?"

"... He didn't feel safe in a room alone with her, if that's what you mean." Jade admitted.
