Sage, fidgeting with the amethyst on his lapel, started pacing around the foyer. "Lady Jade is... a new addition, Kei's last wife died of old age not too long ago. Until recently, she was a attendant and a bodyguard. But I guess while he was recovering from his losses, they became close.

Lord Kei is... there's no other way to put it, he's ancient. If there's a king older than him who's still alive and isn't one of those freaky, immortal guardians, I haven't met them. He's getting on in years, so nobody was too surprised when Lady Jade started taking action in his stead, helping to maintain the alliance between us and the Legume Kingdom so we can continue to farm in their lands and trade resources with them and the Lakhani's...

There are rumours, about the both of them, but I choose to believe that they're good and that they're capable. They're the leaders of our kingdom after all, two heads working together accomplish more than one, as they say." Sage explained.

"...There are rumours, that Jade is only with Kei for the power. That she's waiting for him to die of old age and give the land to her for her to do whatever she wants with it." Sage scoffed.

He folded his arms, "There's also rumours that he's already died among some parts of the mining towns and among some of the farmers. But anyone can confirm that one is complete horseshit."

"That wouldn't make sense, Deborah destroyed the Smith kingdom. If she came here, she'd do the same, without a doubt." Sage declared. "Even if Jade is after power, she hasn't allied herself with people like the Balanque king, she's been allying herself with farming kingdoms, with peaceful kings like Rajendra. She's been helping this kingdom and our alliances flourish."

"Maybe that's because it's was the best available method for her to collect power... and now that she's found Deborah, she's found a way to take it by force." Isa suggested.

"I-I don't quite like what you're suggesting." Sage told her, clutching at his lapel.

"But it makes sense to you, doesn't it?" Isa asked him, sounding very confident that it did.

"I-... " Sage sighed, "Well, how can I believe her just because of her word?"

"I was able to give you the clairvoyance for a moment. I should be able to give you the power to sense truth and lies as well." Isa suggested.

"...Sure, sure, whatever." Sage stammered, as the second floor doorway opened up.

Clover stepped out, accompanied by five guards.

"That's Clover, that's the lady Jade and Kei were talking to when I checked on them earlier." Isa whispered to Mirai.

"Ah, princess Clover?" Sage asked, "Why are you here? I asked for Lady Jade-"

"Lady Jade is busy right now." Clover cut him off forcefully, before stepping back. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be rude just now..." she then added.

"Oh, it's no trouble at all, but... did she send you out in her stead?" Sage asked.

"...If that's going to be a problem, I can go back to my duties and you can come back when Jade isn't busy?" Clover suggested, standing at the top of the stairs.

"...I don't know. Maybe never, I didn't ask. But if I had to guess... when you two leave the kingdom?" Clover guessed, hands clasped in front of her. She bowed at them in apology. "I apologise if this is, in any way, a inconvenience."

"You bet your ass it's a inconvenience. We don't have time for this, Deborah and Prince Balanque are in the kingdom as we speak, and are going to use the Lord and Lady's visit to the Lakhani's as a opportunity to take two kings out at once." Sage exclaimed.

Clover bristled in response. "... Lady Jade told us not to tell anyone about that."

"They already knew, the maiden received the clairvoyance element from the Kraven's after the battle." Sage explained to her.

"They're in bed, sleeping." Clover said.

"...That's a lie." Isa spoke up.

"No it isn't." Clover told her.

"Enough! Forget where Jade and Lord Kei are, is Deborah here or not?" Sage asked, only getting more annoyed with time.

Clover looked at the castle foyer below her, then at all the guards that were accompanying her. "The castle's in one piece and nobody's dead, so I don't think she is."
