Balthazar's body remained still as his soul got launched in the air.
However, by using the sheer force of his own will, Balthazar's soul stopped itself in midair and began flapping it's wings, starting to fly but din't take out the strings just yet.
Psyche suddenly got pulled off the ground and was dragged off into the sky by Balthazar's soul, flying around a bit before going downwards very fast but din't touch the surface as Psyche got crashed into the ground, making a small crater in the process. Balthazar's soul ripped the strings off and flew back into his body.
Balthazar opened his eyes, his head feeling lighthearted from his soul being literally ripped out of his body before he refocused and flew towards Cupid, thrusting his Lancer into his torso, spinning around before throwing him against a tree.
He flew back to the entrance and zoomed his eyes around the area to spot the one who kept pausing time.

The strings remained on the ground, still attached to Psyche's fingers as she pulled her head out of the crater. "Owwie..." She murmured to herself as Daphne appeared right in front of her.
Daphne adjusted her visor, and then both she and Psyche had vanished.
Nary a second past, and Daphne and Psyche were on opposite sides of Balthazar, Daphne pulled out a gun and opened fire against Balthazar's right while Psyche jumped from the left- still somewhat dazed-, and swung her strings at the ground in front of him, easily it phased through the dirt, seeming to tunnel further and further. Until she pulled up again, and managed to pull another spirit, a Griffin- clearly, out of the aether like she was pulling a baited fish out of the ocean. Jumping into the distance, she sent more strings at the spirit until she had enough to consider it a puppet; and pulled it to the ground.
It drew a spirit sword and, forced into moving as Psyche pulled the strings, charged at Balthazar and slashed.
Cupid, meanwhile, ducked down against the tree he had landed again. Resting his palm on it, as the leaves above him began to wilt at a steady rate, and the Lancer-wound on his torso began to heal up incredibly fast, even the threads on his coat were patching up.

Balthazar got shot with bullets and took it like a champ as he used his lancer to block the spirit sword and struggled against the dead griffin and the new wounds made by Daphne.
He opened his right wing, directed at Daphne and started shooting feathers, slicing at her hand holding the gun and two feathers burst through her visor, probably getting some glass and feathers right into her eyes.
"By disrespecting the dead and removing them from their rest, peace you will not receive when it will be your turn to pass away!" Balthazar declared, sounding rather pissed by Psyche using a dead griffin to do the dirty work for her.
He broke the clash as he kicked the griffin's sword out of it's grasp before grabbing hold off the strings and tried to pull them out of the griffin's soul.

Instead, the strings simply phased right out of his grip. Psyche pulled the strings this way and that as the Spirit Griffin punched through Balthazar, phasing through is stomach and punching his actual soul instead.
"If you've got a tool available to you, you use it!" Psyche exclaimed, "If you hate me doing this, you'll love to see what the neonytian empire does with their souls!"
As she said this, the griffin's soul turned and kicked Balthazar away.
Daphne had stumbled and fallen to the side, clearing the feathers from the visor as- time paused- and when it resumed every single one of those feathers was sent flying back to Balthazar.
And as he was recovering from both attacks, from the tree that was currently losing all of it's leaves as though winter was coming solely for it-
a large red beam, patterns of growing lilac's and lily-of-the-valley's spread from Cupid's chest, completely engulfing the guardian and sending him flying straight through the entrance into the sphinx.
With a confident smile, and a renewed vigor on his face, a healthy sheen to his hair as he flicked it out of the way of his eyes, he unbuttoned his pristine, good-as-new coat and tossed it to the wind. Revealing a velvet purple button up beneath it, with golden creepvine patterns running up it.
"I for one, would hate to do any permanent damage to as fine a coat as that one." He commented, as though he had merely spilled some tea. "You, however, for dismissing her talents as 'disrespecting the dead', I would gladly maim." He stated with just as much levity.
As he said that, he held a hand out and released another beam, just as strong as the last one. His hair appeared to lose some of it's lustre, but he didn't care.

Balthazar quickly got up from the ground with smoke coming out of his body, that beam damaged his body good but refused to fall as he quickly backed out of the Sphinx and aimed both of his hands to grab the beam with his own two hands even though his body was aching with pain.
Balthazar started going forward with each step, pushing the beam back at Cupid, using his sheer strength and force of will to do this as the ground beneath Cupid's feet was started to give in as his beam was being slowly retracted towards him.

Cupid didn't appear to bothered about this, he looked at his own feet as they began to fall back, quickly realized that it would work and-
sucked the beam back into himself. His hair's lustre instantly returned.
He then knelt down, and pointed at Balthazar instead- a line of explosions shot out of his finger, completely tearing up the ground between himself and Balthazar, and then exploding right in front of Balthazar, as Psyche pulled her spirit soldier out of the way and jumped to the woods on one side, and Daphne completely vanished- escaping within frozen time- to the other.
As leaves from the drained tree continued to fall behind him, Cupid stood back up, balling both hands into fists, and assumed a combative stance as he waited for the dust from all of his explosions to clear.

And then.
Balthazar flew out of the smoke, covered in scars, letting out a war cry as he reached Cupid and shoved his talons into his eyes with intent to blind him.
He pulled his talons out, smeering them in his own blood before he grabbed hold of Cupid and shot himself into the sky.
Balthazar then flew downwards, starting to spin his body rapidly as both he and Cupid caught fire from the speed of Balthazar's descent.
The two of them crashed into the ground, creating another explosion, strong enough to send Daphne and Psyche on the ground as they were in the forest.
Balthazar flew out of the crater and landed in front of the Sphinx, catching his breath as he was waiting for Cupid to come out, having a good feeling that wasn't enough to finish him off.

Cupid, as predicted, did exactly that. He looked slightly paler, but he was most definitely not blinded.
Without saying anything, looking somewhat disgruntled, he raised up a hand and-
The Spirit Griffin jumped up from behind him, the strings attached to it giving away Psyche's position, somewhere on the ground a far distance into the forest behind Cupid-, and then slashed across his chest, striking his very soul a second time.
Cupid darted to the left as another Spirit Griffin jumped up from the dirt, from one of the bodies that Gin must have killed, wielding a spirit-bow-and-arrow, and firing the spirit arrows from above as it remained airborne.
Rolling towards the entrance to the sphinx, Cupid tossed up another wave of Explosions that served more to cloud Balthazar's view than anything else as-
Daphne was on his back, wielding a very sharp knife, and stabbing it square between his shoulderblades.

Balthazar got damaged physically and spiritually as he used his wings to deflect some of the arrows and block out the explosion but damaging his wings in the process and got stabbed by Daphne, his body was at the breaking point and would not last much longer as he tried to adapt to all the attacks.
He let out another shriek that rang in the pirates's ears as he grabbed Daphne by her wrist, pulling him off his back and held her in front of him, thrusting his lancer into her chest and came out through her back, probably damaging one of her organs or two in the process.
Balthazar then threw Daphne aside, knocking her right into Cupid and shot multiple feathers that pierced through Daphne's torso and continued their way through Cupid.
He switched his target to Psyche next as he began blocking the attacks from the two griffin spirits with his lancer while launching his attack of sharp feathers right into Psyche's hands, piercing through her skin, a way to disable her control over the spirits.

Psyche was pretty far away, but he had really good aim. The Feathers got her right in her palms, and while the strings remained; she switched focus entirely, recoiling backwards and unwittingly pulling both of the spirits backwards, not using them for the time being while she dealt with the hand-pain.
Daphne remained on the ground, bleeding orange blood, as Cupid creepvine'd his way upwards.
"Don't worry a bit, Balthazar." Cupid said, with a little bit of red blood running from his mouth, he wiped it away with one hand, while the other rested against Daphne's shoulder. "Our teamwork is quite strong, I think you'll find. Neonytes work best when as a team, do you agree?"
As he asked that, he held his hand out in front of him, and a orange beam fired straight from his palm- The Beam dispersed into millions of laurel leaves and saplings that completely bombarded the Guardian, scattering and cutting up against him.
As Cupid gritted his teeth, his eyes glowing somewhere between red and orange, his expression turned into a full-on-grin.

Balthazar got hit by the attacks before he went on defense mode, spinning himself around as he began cutting through the leaves and saplings Cupid was throwing at him, he was giving out everything he had as he slashed and slashed through all of those attacks.
While spinning, he sent some feathers into Cupid's way, piercing through his shoulders and knees.

Cupid's knee gave out from beneath him, but he kept his grip on Daphne, and kept firing the projectiles. He didn't show any sign of stopping.
....
Meanwhile, inside the Sphinx.

Back in the treasure room.
Gin was just circling around Nephthys and Erinye, like a predator seizing up his prey while silently cackling.
"Looks like the pirates are gonna be late to the party, quite a shame, I was hoping to meet them in person myself so I can see just how much I detest them as much I do with you two and enjoy ripping their guts out. I guess that walking turkey is tougher than I pegged him to be. Maybe they'll kill each other and save me the trouble when I'll get out of this place." Gin said, quite sure of himself.
"That's assuming you will be able to walk out of here in one piece." Nephthys said with furrowed brows.
"Hah, I guess we'll have to find out for ourselves, won't we?" Gin asked, shrugging his shoulders.
He then looked up at where the orb was before he looked at the hieroglyph on the ground of the sleeping woman and the cloaked figure.
"Say, who do you think those two are supposed? Are they meant to be anyone important or this is supposed to be some sort of bullshit symbolism thing that is supposed to represent that no matter where you go or where you hide, the grim reaper will always be there at your side and will patiently wait as long as he needs to till the person dies?" Gin asked, for some reason asking their opinion about it.

"..That's how you interpreted it?" Erinye asked. "It looks to me like the figure's watching over her, whether he's protecting her, or simply observing, I'm not sure."

"And why do you even care about what we think if you are gonna kill us as you promised?" Nephthys asked.
"There's nothing with a little banter before a match, right? To understand the opponent's mindset and all that, maybe it could give me an advantage and find out what makes you tick." Gin grinned.
"It's two of us and you are a single man, and I happen to be a guardian, you are just a bloodthristy killer, I believe you are highly underestimating us." Nephthys said.
Gin shook his head as he raised his finger at her to stop her from talking.
"You are mistaken on one little thing, Nephthys. You see, I am not alone, I have friends in high places. Speaking of friends." Gin said.
Gin placed his fingers in his mouth and whistled.
"Let it rip, boys!" Gin yelled.
And suddenly, another Gin ran into the room, followed up by another Gin, another Gin, 6, 7, 8, 9.
The count reached to 16, including the Gin inside the room who pulled out his twin trench knives and shoved them both in his palms, blood spilled out of his palms and drank the blood from both knives as his pupils shrunk, turning bloodshot and gained the same expression he had when Erinye confronted him in Miguel's temple.
"Now let the fun begin, let's see how much you two can take till your bodies give in!" Gin laughed as he got in the middle of his crew as they too stabbed themselves and their adrenaline started pumping inside their bodies and charged towards the guardian and the Neonyte, it was hard to make out which one was the real Gin.
Nephthys's eyes widened as she launched two spheres at, hitting two Gin's in their chests and sending them flying off, till one Gin lunged at her from behind and smashed his spiky feet against his back, the spikes went through her back before another Gin sliced at her cheek, making a bloody scar.
One Gin that reached Erinye smacked her right in the face with his fist before another duplicate kicked her in the leg and a third one headbutted her in the stomach, knocking her on the ground.
Five Gin's, however, separated from the mob and stood on the hieroglyph, one jumped on the first's shoulder, followed up by the other three, enough to reach the statue hand holding the orb as the fifth Gin pulled out his necklace and launched into the air like a whip and wrapped it around the statue hand, beginning to pull it and rip it out of the ceiling.
