So the "A Star Wars Story" films have been put on hold, including the two already in production, Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Instead, they're focusing on Episode IX and Rian Johnson's new trilogy. collider.com/star-wars-spinoffs-on-hold/the obi wan one wouldve been fine if it's like logan or something Well the Boba Fett one was the one that had the writer/director of Logan

We could have had a Western style Star Wars movie featuring Boba Fett or Obi-Wan, the two characters that could pull it off so well, but instead they put those on the backburner to let Rian Johnson butcher even more of the franchise.

Well, I’m happy at least bc I think the Rian Johnson trilogy is going to be great.
Evidently, it’s due to Solo being a flop, plus all the production issues that have plagued both Solo and Rogue One

The Rian Johnson trilogy is actually happening? IIRC, there wasn't any word of it before he announced it around TLJ, I thought it would quietly fade away until they announced the trilogy's retraction based on how Solo did financially.

Why would Solo's box office affect the Rian Johnson trilogy? The Last Jedi was the biggest box office success of 2017, whereas Solo was a flop, so it makes sense to cancel/put on hold the Anthology Series while working on the trilogy with the writer/director behind the really successful film. But anyway, yeah, the same source that gave the information about the Anthology Series being put on hold said that Johnson's trilogy is still in production, and it's what Lucasfilms is mainly going to be focusing on after Episode IX.

At this point, Disney has barely made half of what they paid for the franchise, not including toy sales. I'm surprised that Disney is actually going to approve the budget for all three of his films seeing how each concurrent movie in the franchise is getting less revenue.
Depending on how 9 does probably determines the future of this series. If it does well, they'll continue their same direction. If it doesn't do well, there'll likely be some shuffling around of directors/writers. And if 9 is a bomb, they'll have to do some mass re-shuffling of the entire creative team and cancel a couple of their upcoming movies.

So Lucasfilms responded to the rumors and they said they actually aren't putting anything on hold.
So, either Collider's gotta get better sources or Lucasfilms is lying to save face and hoping to quietly cancel the films once news dies down.

If they cancel the Obi-Wan film the new Star Wars is officially dead to me.

I love Lando. I'm so glad he's back. But the reason he's coming back is because he's literally the only OT character who can at this point. Han was killed off in TFA and Rian Johnson fucking murdered Luke in TLJ, plus Carrie Fisher passed away so we won't be seeing much, if any, Leia, and Chewbacca was made into little more than a sidekick for the Porgs with even less personality or character than in the OT.
Even though Lando's back everyone else is already gone. No reunion with Han or Luke or Leia. It's nice to see him again, but the only reason he's here is because they're desperately trying to salvage the wreck of the Sequel Trilogy. I imagine they'll kill him off too just for feelsies or whatever their reason for offing Luke was.
