She's attractive as fuck any which way. Am I the only one getting a Qui-Gon Jinn vibe based on her look? Qui-Gon Jinn was the best character in the whole franchise. So I'm probably being a little biased when I say that I love the hairstyle.

Well, I watched A New Hope
It was alright.
The Negative stuff stuck out more so I'll talk about that first:
Weird lack of music in certain scenes? Like, I don't get it, it doesn't enhance anything it just.... yeah.
Obi-Wan and Darth Vader dueling was just... super lame. Only word for it. There's no movement or... really anything, they're just swinging sticks at each other while standing completely still.
Okay so I didn't expect this given how good of an actor Mark Hamill is nowadays, but he was honestly just really bad. Especially compared to Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher. His delivery was off almost everytime and he seemed strangely stuck in a really narrow emotional range of naive bewilderment. He just seemed to hae no natural screen presence of charisma. It was.... weird. I expect he gets better over the course of the original trilogy, though
This isn't necessarily a bad bad thing given the structure of these films as Cambellian Myths, but as the film goes on Luke is just conveniently good at things. Like, at the start we kinda have this idea of him being inexperienced and having to train, but then all of a sudden people just start throwing out lines about him being the best shot and the best pilot on his home planet and suddenly he's gunning down stormtroopers and taking out tie-fighters and.... what? Like, again, Luke is your typical Cambellian hero so, it makes sense for this to be the case, but I think it's a little odd how they previously establish he doesn't know how to fight or pilot a spaceship, and then just... suddenly he does and always has. (weirdly, isn't this the same complaint in the new trilogy of Rey being a mary-sue?)
Everything else is pretty great.
The interplay between Han, Luke, and Leia is pretty great, Darth Vader is a pretty great villain, the worldbuilding and set design and prop design and creatures and all of that is just topnotch. The action is, on the whole, pretty good. Music is great. Yeah, it's a pretty good movie. I'll probably watch Empire Strikes Back later today.

Watched Empire Strikes Back. This time I can focus on the positives:
That opening battle is pretty badass.
The dialogue flows a lot more naturally than in Episode IV. It's very witty and snappy.
Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher are, of course great, but so is Mark Hamill this time around. Great!
There's a lot of great chemistry between Leia and Han.
Great visuals and action.
An actually tense and exciting lightsaber duel!
I'd say the first movie was good, but Empire Strikes Back is legitimately great. Still a little slow or a little awkward in parts, but that's mostly age, so taking that into account, it's pretty great.

When are you watching Return of the Jedi? It's my least favorite of the originals, but has some of the best moments in any of the movies IMO.
Also, fun fact: The Wampa scene only happened because Mark Hamill was in a car accident not long before shooting so they needed some excuse for his face to be messed up. Funner fact, he didn't think Luke would harm the Wampa and instead use the Force to make it go away or something. I kinda prefer the way it happened in the movie though.

Either later tonight or tomorrow. Probably later tonight. Got a bit of a headache so I don't much feel like writing, and I finished The End of the F***ing World so I'm not watching any TV right now. Either way, excited to see how the original trilogy wraps up.

Its the most flawed but it has some of the highest moments of the series, in the end its worth it even if I prefer the previous two.

So, just watched Return of the Jedi.
Right now I'd lay my opinions out as:
Empire Strikes Back (9) > Return of the Jedi (8.5) > A New Hope (7)
(if we're being honest the only thing bumping Empire up to a 9 and New Hope up to a 7 are their place in popular culture and movie canon. I'm more inclined to say Empire is basically about as good as Jedi at an 8.5, and New Hope if closer to a 6, maybe 6.5)
I really enjoyed Return of the Jedi! There are a couple weird bits, but I've come to accept that. Yoda dying is just... idk, a bit weird, it seems as if the seams of the plot are showing. Like, they needed Luke to find out Leia was his sister when planning things out, but never found a way for that reveal to feel natural. I didn't really buy Luke's compassion for Vader, but I guess that's because a lot of that was through the Force. And then just... uh, what was up with that random alien band at Jabba's palace? And of course the slave outfit :/
But aside from those issues, it was really great! The whole first act of freeing Han from Jabba's palace was pretty great, the confrontation with Vader and the Emperor was great, and... uh, if it a controversial opinion to say I think the Ewoks are great? Like, I've heard some people don't like them? I personally loved them.
I can see how the slightly more light-hearted tone might lead people to like Empire over this, and personally I would say I also preferred Empire, but honestly, I think it's basically the same level of quality more or less.
So... yeah. I have now seen the original Star Wars trilogy, and it was on the whole pretty great. Y'know, I wasn't in love with it, but it was pretty great.
Now onto the prequels....
