So far Alpha Protocol is pretty good. It's certainly not perfect, but it's good. As far as I can tell choices DO have an impact, but exactly how far that impact goes I couldn't yet say. For instance, during an Operation I stayed on the good side of two organizations, so during the final part of the Operation both sent people to help me deal with some enemy forces. And at the very end, a choice I'd made earlier regarding a piece of data ended up saving a character's life, at the cost of plunging the country into violent riots. I'm not quite sure what effect that will have on the story moving forward but I'm intrigued to see where this is all going. So far I've been getting my money's worth from this game. That is most certainly what I have heard about the choices, they do have impact and matter, still no bugs? If so, then I guess the game is better off then it was in 2009. There have been one or two, but nothing quite like what I've heard about the game. And nothing gamebreaking in the least, either.

So I finished the game, and... I don't even really know what to say. Originally I was going to say that my feelings were mixed at best. Mike wasn't a very interesting character and the way his VA delivered his lines was annoyingly monotone for pretty much the entire game. At the end it didn't seem like my choices throughout the game came together as more than a textual summary of how I managed to save the world, but... I was reading up on some of the other things that could happen in the game and it turns out that my choices mattered a little more than I was going to give them credit for. Because of the choices I made I never found out that a character I met early on, who became one of my favorites throughout the entire game, was actually working against me the entire time. That revelation was enough for me to give the game a second chance and see what other surprises are in store in an alternate playthrough sometime in the near future.
I should also mention that the choices I made resulted in the deaths of at least two major characters (Not counting the ones I chose to kill personally) and another more minor character. And despite Mike being a bore, other characters such as Albatross, Mina, and Steve Heck (Dear God, so much Steve) are very interesting.

I remember Angry Joe mentioning that one quite often in the review.

I remember Angry Joe mentioning that one quite often in the review. Yeah, that's the person I was talking about. I had no frickin' clue she was an assassin through the entire game. That's what I read about and shocked the Hell out of me. I gave her every lead I had and it turns out she was with the Big Bad. Dayum. Also, it turns out that I royally fucked up. Once again I found this out after the game. One character was actually working toward the same goal that I was, but neither of us knew. I thought he was the bad guy and he thought the same about me. So when we fought and I won, I executed him immediately instead of listening to him talk. We were on the same side the whole time... There's a lot of shit in this game you can easily miss depending on your choices.

I heard so much from Joe that I must know what happened. And yeah, I can see this being the type of game where a lot of unexpected stuff can happen.

I never saw her again after I began the final mission, but if you hesitate in killing the Big Bad she'll shoot you, then she can get shot by your backup if you choose that, but none of that ever happened for me. She just vanished for me. I ended up saving the world, but at some points I was a little too quick to pull the trigger on some motherfuckers and missed out on quite a bit of info. Because if you spare people they will provide you with information/resources later on or give you a slightly better look at the bigger picture.

I remember the anime... The first episode put me off so much that despite the promise of it getting better later, I just decided not to watch it. :/

The visual novel is just an extended version of the anime. I remember Colonel Sanders was in Episode One. Like, an animatronic or something. Then some dude showed up and said someone was murdered there. And then a bunch of the stuff that seems pretty typical to anime that I hate. Even though people promised me that it does become more about the disturbing killer stuff later.... I've got better stuff to watch. Or... did at the time.

Just picked up Alien: Isolation a little bit ago on the Humble Store (It's 75% off, or $12.50 for the next few hours) and I gotta say that it's pretty cool so far. I've only done the first two missions but the atmosphere is good and I'm in love with the retro 1970's sci-fi they have going on. It's exactly like the original film.

Yeah, it was a great horror game, its not perfect, I mean it goes on for far to long, and the ending is simply not good, but it is a great Alien game, and actually made me forget that Aliens Colonial Marines exist.

Man, the folks who made Alien: Isolation really know how to fuck with you. I was in the third chapter, Communications I believe it was, where you get the motion tracker, and as I was making my way toward the end of the level I was using it to track the movements of the Working Joes. So there I was in a dark hallway with one Joe standing with his back to me, tracker up and waiting for him to move, when a new blip just appeared on the tracker without warning. That thing was moving so goddamn fast it couldn't be a Joe, and as it came closer to me I heard banging in the vents. Then the blip vanished almost right on top of me and I saw that Alien slime, or whatever it is, coming down from one of the vent entrances. The Alien was right fucking above me.
Shat myself. Avoided that hallway like the plague. Avoided ventilation shafts like the plague for the rest of the level. That was only level 3. God help me.
