So Alpha Protocol is only $3 on Steam right now. As a huge fan of Obsidian (Creators of Planetscape: Torment, KOTOR 2, and Fallout: New Vegas, to name a few) I'm gonna take a chance on it. Apparently choices are a big thing in it, and I do so want to see how one of my favorite developers handles this.

I remember people said that it was a buggy ass game, but that there is clear effort on certain aspects. Apparently the choices matter, not in that Quantic Dreams/Telltale sorta way, but actually change the game, oh and it has a dialogue system that is very similar to how Telltale Games do dialogue. But again, it IS buggy as hell like all good Obsidian games. PS, you forgot South Park, Obsidian made South Park Stick of Truth, and it was awesome, and easily the least buggy game yet by them.

I played around 90 minutes so far, and I gotta say that your dialogue choices actually do have a small effect. They influence whether or not certain characters like or dislike you, and their attitude toward you dictates what bonuses you get on missions that they send you. For instance, this guy named... Sean I think. He likes me, so I get 20% damage bonus for all of my gadgets. The leader of the organization dislikes me since he hates smartasses (Which means that he and I will never get along) so I'm dreading having him be my handler in the future. I haven't run into any choices that affect the actual story yet (I haven't even completed the first real mission yet) but the game itself so far has been bug free and actually kind of intriguing.

Huh, I thought it would be buggy, well it has been six years, maybe it got better, but yeah, smartass is the way to go! The best characters are always the smartass ones.

So far Alpha Protocol is pretty good. It's certainly not perfect, but it's good. As far as I can tell choices DO have an impact, but exactly how far that impact goes I couldn't yet say. For instance, during an Operation I stayed on the good side of two organizations, so during the final part of the Operation both sent people to help me deal with some enemy forces. And at the very end, a choice I'd made earlier regarding a piece of data ended up saving a character's life, at the cost of plunging the country into violent riots. I'm not quite sure what effect that will have on the story moving forward but I'm intrigued to see where this is all going. So far I've been getting my money's worth from this game.

That is most certainly what I have heard about the choices, they do have impact and matter, still no bugs? If so, then I guess the game is better off then it was in 2009.
