I'm thinking of getting this since I like Turn-based strategy games (I Loved XCOM), but I don't get it. Is the gameplay basically like chess? Because that's what it looks like to me. I really didn't pay attention to the combat when I played the game. The game is worth playing for its story, characters, art, and everything else alone. Combat pretty much came last to me, but it's quite good. you should definitely play this game, it's incredible. My own personal #1 game of all time right now. I pretty much agree with this statement. The gameplay was alright, but definitely not the standout feature. The best part of this game was when you'd set up camp, and find that someone wants to talk to you. Then you go in, talk to them, and face choices which determine the life or death of certain characters. I ended up getting a couple people killed. I got my strongest giant killed, and I ended up killing both Onef and Ed or whatever his name was. Every time someone died, it made me think of what I could have done better, or whether I should have done what I did.

Another choice I'm interested in seeing have effects in The Banner Saga 2... Ludin's fate. He actually died in my first game, and since they're headed to Aberrang, the Capitol city of the humans, I wonder how that will play out... He lived in my second game. As well as Gunnulf. Mogun and Hogun are dead, though... I think Mogun died in my first game, too? One of them died, one lived, I know that.

The characters in my party for both my first and second game. First Playthrough: Rook, Hogun, Mogun(I really thought one of them died), Ekkil, Eyvind, Iver, Nid, Oddleif, Hakon, Mogr, and Griss. Second Playthrough: Alette, Eyvind, Iver, Gunnulf, Nid, Krumr(I forgot how Krumr died in my first playthrough...), Oddleif, Ekkil, Hakon, Mogr, Ludin, Yrsa, Bersi, and Griss Also, just something weird that I noticed: If Alette lives, not only does she have a slightly different design, but her rank reverts back to one for some reason. Not sure if this happens to Rook, too.

I didn't know Ludin could die! OMG, Ludin is like, one of my favorite characters. Yeah, at the end of Act Three. If you choose to stand your ground, then Ludin takes Yrsa, Bersi, and the rest of his soldiers and attempts to push through the Dredge without you. You can choose to go after them, but you only arrive just in time to see them all brutally slaughtered.
I'm really interested to see how this affects things in The Banner Saga 2, since it seems like the main goal will be to try and get to Aberrang. If Ludin's dead, then I doubt the King of Men will be happy to see everyone...

Malukah? Isn't that the woman who sang a good amount of the songs in Black Ops 2 Zombies? The woman they got to sing because I assume Elaina Sigmen was not available because she was working on Bioshock Infinite?

Yep, same woman, she wasn't a bad singer, but she simply wasn't as good as Elena Siegman.
