Armed with Wings is a series of games, starting with the original series of flash games, now being rebooted and continuing on Steam. It's possibly one of the best Flash Games that have been created, with a unique, stark artstyle, set in an interesting and expansive world, which is only seen briefly, but have quite an amount of intrigue and lore around it, and some fantastic characters. I'm really looking forward both to the reboot of the original game, Rearmed, and as well as seeing the series continue as a "proper game". I first came across the series way back when it first came out in 2008, and I love everything about it. I tried it, but damn, the gameplay in it kinda sucks. I played the first one until the stage 6 boss... I got it down, started to fuck him up, and then he literally spin cycled me from one end of the room ALL THE WAY into the spikes on the other side.

Yes, there's a reason why the first one is getting it's own special little remake, while 2, Red Moon, 3, and Culmination all are being improved and polished a bit, then released as one game on Steam. The level 6 boss is near impossible, and the final boss is also incredibly hard. The first two games relied way too heavily on spikes and/or bottomless pits to kill you, but the second gets away with this a little since it added a jump function, and there's way more precise movement then the original had, with Armed with Wings often sliding off most platforms after you've released the run button. There's another level in the original that involves jumping from several platforms with enemies on them. And by jumping, I mean awkwardly falling on the other platforms and praying you push the enemy off before they knock you off. I think I beat the first one twice. Really, the only story that you need to know(in this version, Rearmed will have a lot more stuff) is that: Armed with Wings reaches the palace and fights Vandheer Lorde, beats him, but Vandheer escapes before Armed with Wings can strike him down. Aside from that, if you want to play the series, then start with the second. The first is playable, but incredibly frustrating.

I started the first one up, and is that a song from The Legend Of Zelda Twilight Princess? It sounds exactly like a song from it.

Never played Tqilight Princes, I know that all but the third use a lot of random songs just off the internet and stuff. Rearmed is getting an original soundtrack I think though.

Ah, totally forgot about the Patreon page and the new game coming out in just a little bit.
There's a new Armed with Wings coming out this year called Armed with Wings Versus. The idea being a game solely focused on the gameplay, with different playable characters, modes, and bosses. It releases this year with limited content, and is updated continually, with early acces for people who donate to the Patreon.
Early Alpha gameplay:
It will have all the enemy types from the series, plus some new ones, returning and new boss fight, fights against playable characters, and a handful of playable characters from the series, including Leo, Lone Warrior, Vandheer, Eivana, Hawkin, and Network, with more to be added after release(this applies to everything).
Also, I neglected to add a link to the blog page in the mian post, if anyone wants to check that out, which I'll do now.

It was incredibly satisfying to figure out HOW to beat the boss, but actually beating him takes WAY too long, and he can pull WAY too much bullshit that you can't counter.

It was incredibly satisfying to figure out HOW to beat the boss, but actually beating him takes WAY too long, and he can pull WAY too much bullshit that you can't counter. I know, beating him the first time is incredible, but there's so much mess concerning that fight. Such as the fact that you can phase into him since each attack moves you forwards, and that your combo isn't really quick enough most of the time to hit him before he either starts spinning again, and won't stop, or just launches you into the spikes with no chance to stop him. The boss fights are one of the strong points of the series though, on the whole. In Armed with Wings 3, you can use the Eagle as a sort of double jump, launching yourself off of him when you make him hover, and this is actually used in the fights as well as platforming, which works quite well really. There's a boss around Chapter 4 who shoots magic bolt thingies that are just too high for you to jump normally, so you have to use your eagle to dodge the attack. The boss fight in Culmination I find particularly interesting, if for nothing else than the philosophy behind it. I can't really go into much details without some spoilers though, and since the later games actually have a decent amount of story, I'd really rather not.
