So, did anyone here played it? Well, I've heard about Deadly Premonition before - that it's one of these games that can't be classified by any standard means. I bought it two days ago during a sale at some indie site. And let me tell you something - if you didn't play it, you totally should! I'm only several hours in. It's buggy, completely unstable without fanmade patch (which helps, but only a bit), has awful graphics, gameplay is terrible - but the story is completely intoxicating. It's a mix of horror and comedy, but it's like nothing I've seen before. And I've just found out that Melissa Hutchinson voices one of the characters, but either I didn't recognize her, or I'm yet to see her character

Ok, I disagree with you on almost everything. Deadly Premonition is a terrible game, but the graphics are absolutely fine, the gameplay is absolutely fitting, and the story is dogshit.
The graphics are serviceable, and are something you might see in a triple a game in 2008. That's fine. Who cares if they aren't the best? Don't exaggerate. It would be terrible graphics if you couldn't tell what things were, or you couldn't recognize a building by looking at it. No matter where you are, there are always many recognizable elements around, even in the shitty points.
The gameplay is very fitting. It's a motherfucking survival horror game. It shouldn't be smooth, because that takes away any semblance of tension. Sometimes it can be a bit awkward, such as the staircase in the police station. The driving kinda sucks, but it still works. Never did I say, "Oh. That was fucking bullshit," while playing any of the game. Well. Until the ending.
The story is what makes this game terrible (I won't be spoiling specifics, but there will be spoilers on situations that the protagonist is thrown into. I don't spoil anything good, though (probably because there's nothing good to spoil.)). It starts off as a quirky, weird setting, but by the end, it completely shifts tone, and makes next to 0 sense. I'd say it makes 2 sense out of 100. Sure, the game only has about 40 sense throughout, but it makes little sense in a way that's followable, and is entertaining. Then it pisses everything away. It starts to lose some enjoyment factor when you play as a different character, fighting a crossdresser pole dancing around a bunch of cogs in a pretty red dress. Then it gets even worse once you find out who the killer is. Their motive makes no sense with what you know about the character previously, and then they turn into a super-saiyan version of The Thing from Fantastic Four. Then the finale hits. FUCK. THE FINALE. HOLY SHIT. HOLY SHIT. IT IS SO GODDAMNED BAD. Not only is it not fun (a three stage boss fight, a whole entire stage of which is a quick time event, and another stage where half of it is a quick time event), but it also ruins the story. Absolutely RUINS the story. Fuck Deadly Premonition.
And yeah, I never noticed that Melissa Hutchison plays a character.
