I'm buying the Transistor Vinyl so I do not have the money for that, oh well. I preferred the soundtrack for Wrong Number anyway.

I read the first issue of the comics and it's actually really good, I love the art. There's a preview for the first issue on that link I posted, so you can see it there.

So I've been playing a lot of Hotline Miami custom campaigns lately. Some have been pretty good.
I really liked "End Times", which is actually three campaigns, End Times, Ozymandias, and Born Again. I think you only played as The Fans and Jacket(no masks). The level design was really good, and the writing was... I mean, not bad, so... Only thing that frustrated me was the "boss fight" at the end.
Miami Falls is really good, too. That one is just labeled in acts so it should be easy to find. You play as four original characters, but they use the base characters of Beard, The Hammer(still no clue who he is or why he's any different from Jacket with no mask), Oscar(one of Jacket's masks), and The Swans. The levels were all pretty good, although for the Beard character you don't get to choose your weapons so, that was frustrating once when it gave me a sniper rifle for an all close-quarters level. Also, fuck Oscar. That was one of the challenge masks in HM1. It reduces your visibility. Also, there are some bits that use the drug effect from the finale in HM2, which slows down you movement, and at one point the slowed movement didn't where off when it was supposed to. But, yeah, overall really good. You do have to install some mods and a new soundtrack though. Can't really say much about the story, I'm still trying to figure it out.
There's another one called Vengeance which might be good gameplay wise but I only got so far before I had to stop because of the horribly cringey writing.
I'd still love to write a campaign at some point, but.... I still can't use the level editor.... hence why I just said write. I don't know, I just love this series, just the vibe and the feeling of it, I'd love to create a story within its "universe"(which I guess it accurate, what with all the lore and comic tie-ins and stuff).

I started replaying Hotline Miami 2 and that was a mistake, since all it did was make me really want a 3rd game and/or an expansion for the 2nd just to confirm my head canon that Jacket is alive (since he's neither present at the bar of broken heroes or in the room at the start of a new game, I think this has been said before) and to let me fuck up the janitors. Also has anyone made any custom levels? I might try to learn the level editor (well I kinda already know how to use it other than the cut scenes) but I have no clue whether I could actually make a decent level.

I made a small test level for this with Jacket just to see if I could make a competent level, which I don't know if I can or not. So uh, if you want play it and then tell me how shit it is, and if it's not shit I'll try and learn the cut scene tools to make a campaign of some sort. You should be able to find it in my workshop if you're on my friends list.

Pretty good enemy placement overall, but the long corridor on floor two makes it sort of impossible to build up a good combo. First floor was overall pretty good. I did notice on the second floor a few enemies that just kind of.... stood there. So. idk, might be the game itself though. I mean, aesthetically, it was really good. Wouldn't have looked out of place in the main game. Overall, 7/10. Decently good.

It was easy because initially it was way harder, but it became a massive pain in the ass to play test since I couldn't choose which floor to spawn on, and the 2nd floor was rushed to shit because I spent ages placing cosmetic stuff just for it to crash randomly which put me back to before the 2nd floor was even a thing, by which point I just said fuck it and threw shit down vaguely the way it was just to get it over with. Also I'm glad it was good aesthetically, since I spent a good chunk of time making the map on placing cosmetic stuff, since it was incredibly bland without it. I think I might mess with the cutscene creator within the next few days, maybe try to recreate a level from HM1. EDIT: I also noticed the idle guys, they're meant to move when they see you, not totally sure what caused it.

Where the idle enemies for you the melee guys you can shoot through the window? It seems like melee enemies cant see you through windows, but gun enemies can, I don't know whether that's an intended thing or a bug with the editor, maybe it was because there was so many guys in there that their vision was messed up or something. The other one I noticed, which only sometimes happens is the guy on the 2nd floor in the room with the fat guy by the desk, who sometimes lets you get right up to him before he turns around, which must be a bug.

Yeah, they didn't see me through the window. One of them just flat out didn't move at all.

I saw this comment on YouTube on one of the unused soundtrack songs explaining what Shelter was (or maybe he's just bullshitting) and it would've at the very least improved the ending slightly. Dakota Andrews1 year ago This would've been a great track to use in the unreleased scene Shelter. Because SPOILERS
Jacket somehow survives the nuke because I dunno, prison walls were thick enough, breaks out of his cell because he hasn't seen any guards visit him for a while, stops by the evidence room to grab Richard, and walks outside to see Miami devastated. Furious and knowing who did it, the same people who played with his emotions in the past, he goes after 50 Blessings, opens their bomb shelter HQ and in an amazing climax, kills all of them and immediately after, gets his own visit from Richard. Jacket rips off his mask and falls to his knees, dying from nuclear fallout. Richard, this time being just a mask without a body, berates him for spending his whole life trying to get revenge only to have the consequences outweigh the rewards. Jacket collapses, saying a line about how he'll be glad to see Beard and Hooker again, and that was worth dying for. The only thing is, Jacket never talks, so it seems like it might be bullshit, either way it's a cool idea and fit with the name/cover. EDIT:According to the comments it was a fan idea, either way it would've given at least a bit of closure in regards to 50 blessings at the very least.

In the digital comics that led up to HM2(which as far as I know are canon). The first one opens right after the end of HM1 with Jacket smoking on the balcony and he says, "So this is what the end looks like... It's beautiful." The rest of the comic shows him being arrested and then cuts to the Fans watching his arrest and Ash basically putting in motion their plans to continue Jacket's work.

Finally got around to playing Hotline Miami 1... It was alright. Hated Jacket as a character but Biker was really cool. I'd give it a 7/10. Maybe I'll play the second one at some point.
