Huh.... That's.. pretty brutal. I'm going to check to see if I can watch the movie anywhere. Jackman's character isn't the only thing that reminds me of Joel. Funnily enough, he's a doomsday prepper and (not sure if a huge spoiler or not) his daughter is abducted which is why he tortures that guy. Reminds me of when Joel tortures two of David's men when Ellie is abducted. Yeah, I gathered that that was what was going on in that scene. Anson Mount's character in Hell on Wheels isn't necessarily similar to Joel in that you can easily draw comparisons like that between Joel and the character he plays, but there are more subtle things. The way he portrays Cullen seems to me like he would be a really good fit to play Joel in the TLOU movie. I'm really struggling to explain it. The show is, without a doubt, the ballsiest, most miserable show on TV(more so than GoT, TWD, or something like True Detective), and Cullen takes the brunt of all the tragedy that happens, and that was than Anson Mount portrays Cullen dealing with that is the #1 thing that makes me think he would be a good fit to play Joel in the movie. There's a lot of other things, too, but that's what stands out to me the most.

Considering that I haven't seen Hugh Jackman or Josh Brolin in anything, and it's pretty unlikely that Viggo Mortenson would play Joel, I suppose my top pick for someone to play Joel would be Anson Mount. Also, of the 3 actresses who keep getting brought up in relation to playing Ellie, it's very unlikely that Ellen Page would even want the role, I don't like Masie Williams as an actress, so my top pick would be Chloe Grace Mortez(she was pretty great in the remake of Carrie). I'd have Chloe Moretz play her too. Bonus is that she kinda sounds like Ellie already.

I see, well I disagree, but hey, that's what opinions are for. Also Anson Mount, that name doesn't ring a bell, but I am going to take a shot in the dark and say is that Cullen? Because if so, I can see what you mean by that working. Yes, Anson Mount plays Cullen. Also, fun fact, he was on a different show before Hell on Wheels where he played a characters named Will Carver. And, again, having never seen Hugh Jackman or the other guy in anything, he'd be my top pick to play Joel. And, a totally unrelated note. Hearing The Swede talk with an American accent is so weird. No kidding, odd.

Prisoners was an amazing film. Hugh Jackman would be a great Joel.

Thought the same thing, he kinda looked like him, and totally acted like him, would be perfect.

Well whatever, she looks a lot younger then 18, and in this era of movie making, its pretty damn easy to make somebody look younger.

I swear it said April 15th 1996, but then again I did recently read that anybody can edit IMDB just like Wikipedia, so I may have been lied to.
