the magician's mourning was out of place so she's a possible one for the way to get the hat out, since I doubt that the Buisnessman even existed.
The Mechanic could've turned the lights off. Or anyone could but she could stop anything.
The Auctioneer ran out of the ship and one frame later a man with a top hat was going in: The top hat man was never seen again
Also, The Cards seem important, Auctionner and Buisnessman are both Important Clubs.

I think either everyone is involved in it, besides the journalist, or possibly just the journalist. Auctioneer- the only one who could've really taken the diamond since it was in his hands Actress- had her glass broken, possibly knocked the politician by breaking it on his head or it was hit by the gunshot Doctor- she suggested the politician take his medicine, which could've caused him to faint Politician- might be innocent and just knocked out by either the actress or the doctor, but could just be pretending to be unconscious to create a distraction Police- definitely connected to the mafia, maybe she thinks he'll steal the diamond or they're both part of the plan to steal it, definitely had a gun which could've been the one used to shoot the glass Mafia- connected to the police and/or the businessman, is seen laughing/smiling near the end, implying he's either glad the diamond was stolen and the plan succeeded or in some state of shock/surprise Waitress- possibly innocent, could be involved since she's helping the actress clean up the glass (though this could be just her doing her job) Engineer- a likely candidate for being the on to turn the lights off, being the only one not present at the auction Magician- she lets out her doves, possibly to create a distraction Journalist- it's mentioned she's a newbie journalist so why would she get a letter from the thief? Businessman- probably a red herring

I think the businessman and the auctioneer were the same person cause the business man left the ship shortly before the businessman came on. enough time for him to put a top hat and a longcoat on.
