I seriously haven't been this into a show since Breaking Bad. It's a show from the late 90s that has absolutely nothing to do with the Wizard. It takes place in a prison, and is populated by flawed, broken, but ultimately human characters. It is narrated by inmate Augustus Hill, a former crack addict who, when running from the police, shot a cop, and was consequently thrown off of a rooftop by the police that eventually caught him. He spends his time in a wheelchair, judging, thinking about life, and rarely taking an active role in the show.
Then there's Tobias Beecher. The heart of the show (at least to the point that I'm at). He did do a crime, but it was carelessness, not malice, that landed him in Oz. Being an everchanging character, not much can be said about Beecher without spoiling certain things. Just let it be known that I like him almost as much as I like the narrator.
Other main characters include Tim McManis, Kareem Said, Jefferson Keane, Ryan O'Reily, and Vern Schillinger. I should let you meet them on your own.
Have any of you watched the show? If you have, be conscious of spoilers. I'm only on Season 2 of 6.

It's peaked my interest in the past thanks to some of the names in it that I've liked from past shows I've watched like J.K. Simmons, Harold Perrineau, Dean Winters and, of course, Ernie Hudson, a good ol' Ghostbuster. Haven't made the jump into it though since I'm juggling a lot of shows right now.

I haven't watched it. My parents watched the entire series I think, but I was never that interested in it.

The characters are interesting dynamic, and above all, human. Characters come first in this show. The plot is barely there, but the characters are rock solid. Most of every episode is just watching characters interact. Nothing blindsides the viewer, because the viewer is caught up with every character as the show progresses.

Yeah, I may watch it at some point, but there are lots of other shows that I'm planing on watching first. Well.... Actually, not that many. I'll get to it soon, probably.

Lately I've been (re)watching some movies taking place in the prison, some of them are really good. I might just watch the show, but probably around Christmas, when I'll have more free time.

Finished episode 3. Man, Augustus is awesome. Besides his narrating scenes, he almost never appears, but it's enough for me to like him.
That guy that is in cell with Tobias. Fuck him.

Augustus shows up more later, but yeah, he's my favorite character. At times, he seems like the only one who wants to get better, and one of the only ones with any brains.

I've just finished episode 6 Shit, i was hoping Augustus won't take the drugs from that basketball playing douche. I think he's pretty much safe for now, but this show likes killing off seemingly important characters.
Man, Tobias breaking that glass into Schilinger's face was so damn satysfying to watch. I'm liking the show so far.

Spent most of the night watching season 2, and I managed to finish it. I hate Schilinger and his gay friend so fucking much. I hope season 3 will be their downfall.
Also, the show managed to gross me out for the first time. I couldn't watch this guy with his eyes being gouged out. I can't stand eye damage.

I finished the show. I liked it as a whole, one of my favourite TV shows. But I feel like after (spoilers for S4E8) Adebisi's death there was a slight drop of quality. It was still worth watching after that though. There were some strong scenes in the last 2 seasons, but the ending was disappointing. Some plotlines just felt unfinished, like they were supposed to have a scene or two more before the end.

That whole storyline was just insane. With all the shit going on. I'm kinda disappointed that the Adebisi stuff ended as it did. The documentary seemed like a promising way to make the storyline continue, but the way that the reporter made literally the dumbest move he could've made was maddening. I think it would've been better if he put himself in a room with pretty much anyone else. Fuck, Schilinger would've been PERFECT for that documentary. Why the FUCK would the reporter pick one of the people he had SHAMED in the past?

And I read somewhere that they ended Adebisi's arc like that, because the actor got a job in another show, and wanted to quit. So it probably wouldn't end like that.
