Well... You all said I was in denial when Kenny 'died' and I turned out to be right.
Maybe Harp could be right too. YOU NEVER KNOW!
The difference between Kenny's "death" and Omid's death is that we never saw Kenny dying but we saw Omid getting shot and died. Christa had plenty of time to see if Omid is still alive and he wasn't and I'm pretty sure that Christa probably shot him in the head so then he won't return as a walker and buried him.
Nuh uh. We saw Omid get shot. We didn't see anything indicating he died, other than him passing out. It's very possible that he survived that. They did insinuate he died, but we have to remember, there were sixteen months in between that and the next time we saw our protagonist. A lot could have happened. Omid could have survived, and gotten separated by a horde, like Kenny did. Keep in mind, Kenny was fucking shot when he was escaping his fate. Shot in the stomach. That is far worse than in the chest.
We've already had this conversation. Harp isn't budging.
Would he budge if they showed the body? Or rather, if the season ends without him ever showing up again?
If they showed the body, or had a conversation between Clem and Christa about putting him down, then I'd budge. If he doesn't show up again, I'm saying unknown, still.

I'm just curious to know why you came to believe he's survived?

But I think they were dumb for the shock value, as you put it. The game's not really supposed to be based on realism, but if you think about it, that was pretty damn realistic in its abruptness.
Not all deaths are meaningful and satisfying. Sometimes, good people just die for no reason at all and you just have to deal with the aftermath of it. In my mind, the only problem with killing off Omid like that was that the time skip kept us from having to really deal with the ramifications of his death. That could have been a huge moment of character development there and we just missed it.

Basically sums up my thoughts. Wonder if they'll make a DLC on it.
