I saw this show on netflix, it looks pretty wicked. Was just waiting to hear good things about it, so I'll take your recommendation and start watching it!

Attack on Titan is really cool. Gets a bit too grim at times, but I like it. Mikasa is awesome. One of the best female anime characters in a while.

I watched it, and I liked it, but it certainly IS overhyped. It held the spotlight of the internet for way too long and has way too many parodies in other medias. It got so much, that it actually annoyed me a bit. The manga also looks like shit compared to the anime. Trust me, I know...I tried reading it. Horrible scanlation groups with horrible English paired with awfully scribbled art style? Nooooope, not with me, thank you.

The manga's art style does improve after a while, but yeah, it doesn't look great. And while the world and concept are interesting and mysterious, I hope the explanation behind everything actually end up making sense because that could make or break the series for me.

True, what I have read so far sounded like the plot went into quite a...stupid way. But I won't spoil.

Ah, that's a shame. Anyway, to get some discussion going, the top 5 characters for me so far are: 1. Mikasa (Fantastic mix of strength and vulnerability. Knew I liked her the moment she punched out Eren and shoved the bread in his mouth.) 2. Jean (Great character development and complexity. Started out as a selfish jerk but became an extremely relatable character afterwards.) 3. Sasha (Plucky comic relief characters are nice in a such a grim show. That entire potato sequence was made of awesome.) 4. Ervin (Calm and courteous but utterly devoted to the mission and willing to do anything to put humanity back on top. The perfect leader for their sitation.) 5. Ian (Wasn't in it for long, but he was a respectable guy. Had one of my favorite speeches so far in the series.)

I have to admit, that I don't really care for most characters aside from Mikasa, Jean and Eren. Simply because the first is awesome, the second is interesting and the last is borderline crazy (I WILL KILL ALL AND EVERYTHING! - I like that, don't judge). I may add Levi into the list, but I am not sure yet. He has the potential to be interesting, but also the potential to annoy me.
I honestly don't even know anymore who Ervin and Ian were because of how uninterested I am in all other characters. I know that most of them will die meaninglessly anyway.
