Alright, to make sure we don't go overboard with the smileys (at least the communal ones), I made a poll for people to choose their least favorite smileys.
I think we have a pretty good number right now of 15 original smileys and 18 additional ones, so if we start adding more, we should replace one of the old ones that no one ever uses.
And remember that you can still add these to your own personal smiley bank, but they just won't be available in the shoutbox anymore.

That was the idea, yes. The plan is to make a new poll every time a new smiley is suggested for the shout box to see which of the old ones we want to replace with it. Next time I'll add a "keep things the way they are" option.
