Discuss the novel series a song of ice and fire here. This will contain spoilers for all 5 books, and probably for the TV show as well.

I'm reading A Feast For Crows. I'm like 1/2 way through it and nothing has happened, though I do hear AFOC is typically said to be 'the boring one'.

I can say the ending is pretty good. Not for some of the characters, of course. Also, you watch the show too, right? And how did you react to Cat's reanimation at the epilouge

Knowing most of the spoilers before reading the books (curiosity got the better of me) I knew it was coming, but I didn't know when it would. I guess that in the show that'll be a cliffhanger for Season 4 Episode 10. Didn't realise she wouldn't be able to speak, though it makes lots of sense judging by how she died.

The fourth season is going to cover the last half of book 3, but also some of book 4. I could imagine the seen with her being at the very beginning of the season, just to open up with a WTF moment.

I'm only starting A feast for crows today, but so far, book 3 was my favourite one. Especialy the amazing second half, I'm really excited for season 4 of the show, it will most likely be the best one.
Also, are there any book characters you guys liked, but didn't like in the book, or vice versa?

Are there any book characters you guys liked, but didn't like in the book, or vice versa? Not really, for the most part they're all done similarly. I like most of the characters in the books and TV, but Jon seems like a bit more of a pushover in the show. Joffrey's a dick in both, so nothing's new there. Tyrion is awesome as usual.

Yeah, most are almost the same, but there are few exceptions. I like Theon, Jorah and Stannis more in the books, for example.

Ah, that's a good thing to talk about. Who do you support to get the Iron Throne?
At the moment I'm thinking Stannis as he seems to be the most suitable - probably a more suitable king than Robert Baratheon ever was, what with him actually responding to the Night's Watch's call for help - aside from the whole cultist/fire witch ho side to things.
Either that or they just abolish the Iron Throne.

I agree, I thnik Stannis would make a good king. He's the only king who cared about evenets on the wall. But there is Melisandre, I don't like her. Stannis will need to keep her more in the line, she's dangerous. Instead of her, he should trust Davos more, he would be a good hand of the king. If not Davos, then I'd like to see Tyrion in that role, he was doing a good job in the second book. But Stannis wouldn't ever trust him.

I've just finally started A feast for crows and it made me realize how much of crazy shit happened in the last few chapters of ASOS. -Stannis giving his offer to Jon. Jon becoming the Lord Commander. -Tyrion escaping and his double kill. Jaime revealing his secret. -Lady Stoneheart. -Lysa's death scene. -I don't know where they plan to finish Dany's story this season, but I have a feeling it will end with het exiling Jorah -Hound's possible death (but that will probably happen earlier) and Arya leaving for Bravoos. -Maybe something from Bran and/or Theon. I don't know yet what will happen to them.
Seriously, if the fourth season's finale is going to cover all these things, or at least most of them, it has a chance to become the best episode in the series.

I can't wait to see "Only Cat" onscreen.

Me too. Great and shocking scene. It looks like the ninth episode will be like Black water. The whole episode will be about the fight on the wall. The scene with Stannis arriving and crushing the wildlings, while his men are shouting his name should be epic.

Well, I'm caught up. I'm curious, what is your opinion on Jaime now, Michael?
