Yep, I beat burial at sea part 1 on 1999. I'm pretty surprised with myself, I don't think I've played anything that ridiculous before, you die soo fast. Some notes below on what helped. -don't die, restart checkpoint if that happens -didn't buy gun/vigor upgrades not enough money -got the jump on all lone enemies when possible, used melee unless there's a lot of them -backing off a lot when necessary and taking them out from afar or from a different room. -bought extra pistol ammo so i didn't run out -for vigors I used possession most for crowd control and least cost, sometimes possessing turrets was really helpful.
I died a lot and raged, but the trick was to keep restarting checkpoints smartly, until I cleared certain important rooms without dying, got the loot and cash, then hit the next checkpoint and repeated. The fight for old man winter was the biggest bitch, but I kept backing out of the room and picking off the special guy so the others were more manageable. Took me like 10 tries. The rail attack with the special shielding hat or whatever helped a lot at that part too.
Once you get the radar gun it get's really easy.
The big daddy fight wasn't too bad, I only died once. Open the motorized patriot tear, the big daddy will fight it while you unload all your shotgun ammo into it, then use old man winter to get away. You can only be on the skyline for a second or two before he pulls you down. Do not die, then open another motorized patriot tear and do the same thing but with your carbine and machine gun. Dead.
I think I'm gonna go try out episode 2 next, that was pretty satisfying to beat. Damn I am really impressed, even I couldn't manage to beat it on 1999, props to you!

I did it for both of us! Also, hopefully episode 2 will be a little easier?

I haven't tried it yet, most likely due to the stealth nature, I really need to try 1998 mode, see what that's like.

This was on Ken Levine's Twitter for awhile before being taken down. Make of it what you will.

Yeah I know, but a man can hope that one of his favorite games of all time gets ported to a Next Gen console so more people can experience it, I have the same thoughts with KOTOR.

Tenenbaum was autistic?
Also, that paragraph near the end reminded me of The Banner Saga, and Rook and Oddleif's conversation fairly early in the game about her being a "strong woman"; the whole point of that conversation leading to how the caravan wouldn't accept her as the cheiftan because she's a woman, and also, more importantly to my mind, what exactly everyone means when they say she's a "strong woman". I chose the "I never cared for that term" option, because the way I see it, that's kind of like saying that it's surprising that she is "strong" because she's a woman. So, I just find it funny that in Levine saying that characters can't be boiled down to their gender, ethnicity, etc, he talks about Tenenbaum not just being a woman, but a strong/brilliant/good woman. I just find it a little funny, since I recently played through the Banner Saga. I mean, I don't think it undermines Levine's point, or really means anything, it's just a little funny.
Anyway, seems cool.

You know it's funny, upon further reflection, the opening scene of Burial at Sea part 2, is completely lifted from a Disney film, or at least the feeling of one. No really think about it, everything is peaceful, bliss and happy, and all the denizens of Paris are singing the same song. It's actually very similar to the opening number from Beauty and the Beast, which is Belle, hell there is even a part where a bluebird lands on Elizabeth's finger and sings a potion of the song. That exact scene happened in Snow White, and of course after that it all goes down hill and becomes considerably less cheerful. I read somewhere that Ken Levine really liked Beauty and the Beast, and I can believe that pretty easily. Hell there are bits of that in the main game, look at Elizabeth's library, it looks very similar to Belle's library, and most obviously enough, Elizabeth herself. She was inspired by Belle, though they are greatly different in plenty of aspects, they do have the same hairstyle at the start. They both have ponytails with a blue ribbon. Can't believe I missed all of that, two years later and I just figure it out.
