I, for one, like to read books. I'm reading Divergent at the moment, which has only one real flaw. It thinks I give a shit about who's getting down with who. Every fucking chapter, I'm enjoying myself, just reading about the crazy shit that's happening, then the book comes up behind me and says, "Hey, remember these two characters?"
"You mean those two assholes? Yeah."
"No, no, no. They're not assholes. Not since Tris (the protagonist) manipulated them."
"Oh... Um... Alright. I kind of imagine one of them as a guy I used to be friends with, and the other as Christa from The Walking Dead, so I'll accept that."
"Well guess what?"
"What?"
"They're romantically teasing each other! Isn't it wonderful!?" It's at this point that I give the book a somewhat shocked stare. It goes in between exciting action, and interesting dynamics to THIS SHIT.
Anyways, any books you guys reading? Any books you could recommend (oh yeah, overall, Divergent gets a thumbs up in my book. You should check it out)?

I thought of the exact same thing when I was reading divergent (about Christa).
I'm not reading anything right now, but I did read Les Miserables over the summer. One of the best books I have ever read.

Eh... Tolkien's books kind of irritate me.

One of the best books I have ever read. I'm only just after what happened to... The chasm jumper, I guess you could say, without any spoilers. I was fucking cheering, despite what I initially thought of him.

Fahrenheit451 in English class. Pretty good so far. As an aspiring writer, a future where books are burned by the state horrifies me because it means I'm out of a job.
In my own time, I'm reading The Cestus Deception. It's alright so far, though at times it seems to drag on. Also, it has giant cave spiders, so fuck that chapter.

Cellist of Sarajevo was one of the few decent books I've been assigned to read for school. I would recommend it.
Also, what I'm reading right now for school is "A lesson before dying". It makes me want to gag myself with a spoon.

I believe they are burned because the government (it's a futuristic America, by the way) is trying to make everyone equal through ignorance, so nobody can read books because that way they might become smarter than others, and therefor nobody could truly be "equal". The protagonist is a fellow named Guy Montag, one of the Firemen who's job it is to burn the books, instead of extinguishing housefires (houses in F451 are stated to be fireproof).

In our English class, we're reading a shit ton of poems at the moment, and I fucking hate it.

Why are the books burned? because reading is illegal and many other things i cant really explain also tv dominated the world because eryone is afraid of gov't and bombs and such
