Harp's Forum Pokemon Nuzlocke Challenge

Fought my rival for the first time.



His growlithe, which he'll grow and keep throughout the game, had a sandstorm ability, which will absolutely fuck me up later on, but he was weak to Rock's bite attack, so we were good for now.



Almost caught a Poliwhirl, but he powered through like 4 pokeballs and forced me to run away, the fucker.

It was a stinking rock with a shit eating grin, no better than a bug. Of course I named it after you.

Last update of the night, found some crack on route 22. He has peck, a flying type move, so he fucked up Rock a bit, but it was nothing Rock couldn't handle. Had text speed on mega fast, so the battle went too quick to grab screens from, but here's what I got. Welcometo the chain gang, crack.

Grinded for a minute. Starting to learn more about the team.

Right now my lineup is pretty worrying.

Cack has pretty bad stats, honestly. His stat total is lower than even the pokemon I caught today, 2 levels lower than him. By a pretty wide margin, too. What he lacks in stats, though, he makes up for with his ability. His ability is insane. If he survives any given attack, he changes type to that attack's type for the rest of the fight. Cack starts out as a flying type, but if he survives a hit from an electric move, suddenly he's an electric type, and therefore resistant to future damage. Not to mention, evolutuion will probably help Cack out in the stat department. But for the moment, his low attack and defense scares the shit out of me.

Rock is more solid stat wise. No glaring weaknesses, but his typing is problematic. Bug type is weak to so much shit. He's weak to ice, rock, flying, and I think fire, too. He could pick up a second type once he evolves, but for the moment, pulling him out is scary.


Anyway, after bringing them both up to level 7, I ran out to route 2 to grab a new pokemon. This drizzle is a good first sign. Rain buffs many water type moves



Wasn't so hyped about getting those water type moves turned against me, though.



Luckily, that was all the butterfree knew, and it forced a turn of rest after each attack. Unfortunately for me, that means I'm gonna have to grind this thing until it learns a safer move. That turn of rest is fuckin scary when any pokemon can have any type and any move. I'll have to do that before I go to Viridian forest.

Anyway, welcome Lyric, the water type Butterfree to the gang. Just so you know, Zyph, when you join this gang, you'll end up in one of two places: dead or in jail (the box).

Spent some time grinding. Lyric is nearly caught up with Cack and Rock, but her stats easily outclass both of them. If only she ever learned another move I wouldn't be so scared to use her.

There were these Muks outside of Viridian forest where I found Lyric, though. Holy shit they were unpleasant. Lyric just couldn't do damage to them, and he was resistant to Rock's bite, so I was forced to swap to Cack. Muk was a fighting type, so the fighting type Cack could've done well, but Muk was seriously close to out playing me.

Whenever I fight one of these things, I swap Lyric to Cack immediately. From there, Muk invariably hit me with a normal move on Cack's way into the fight to make him weak to fighting type. If I didn't OHKO every single one of them, they were gonna fuck Crack up.



After I got bored of that, I just went into Viridian Forest to pick up a new pokemon.



It was a mistake.



This thing powered through so many pokeballs that I'm nearly out at this point, and he did this to the whole party. One fight with nothing but this pokemon.





I haven't focused on moves in the past, but jesus christ, he has better moves than all the rest of us combined, and decent stats to boot. 2 of his moves are nearly double my strongest attacks before grabbing him.

Since this pokemon is clearly set to be the MVP, I gotta name him after the man who made this whole thing possible. Thanks for helping me get a new rom of Fire Red, TC.

Make me a grass type. Those are my favorites. Good luck man!

And they're all dead. Fuck.

I grinded for like 30 minutes to get everyone up to level 10, and figured that since TC is super effective against everyone in there, we'd be fine. As long as Brock didn't have a flying fighting type, we should be okay.

Guess. Just guess what that motherfucker had.

After the first seismic toss, and TC went down to 2hp, I threw cack in there to tank the hits and throw out some wing attacks, but then this fight got me with the second gut punch.

Quick attack is extremely powerful. And still very quick.

Cack went down in one hit. Lyric went up next, since she was the second fastest, and not injured like TC was. One quick attack was all it took. Rock went out to clean it up, still being at full health and all. He brought the fucker down, but only after taking 2 seismic tosses. I sent TC out against Brock's Graveller, hoping I could make a miracle happen, but one snowy boy couldn't close out this fight. Rock did his best to hang in there, but in the end, he too fell.

Welp. Time to get TC to run another randomizer. Maybe I'll ask him to change a few settings. Random move power might just be too much.
