Awesome! Can't wait for these to come out. Here's a site you can post them to as well as the Workshop. www.l4dmaps.com/I already tried posting my tank music mod there, actually. Your account needs to be 30 days old before you're allowed to post your own mods, though. Quick update in case anybody's interested: I'm reading a different model-change tutorial now, not the long-ass one I was reading before. The new one is shorter and easier to understand, but the author is a bit of an asshole by deliberately making people get errors on a certain piece of software before telling them how to fix it. Also... Shame, I think I'm the only one who can actually play it. What, you mean other than me? I'm quite sure Rock can. Oh,, I just assumed though, because when I asked some friends to play on PC, Bio and Brotato said they couldn't run it, and everyone else said no, so I just assumed.

I'd usually say this isn't enough to warrant a post about it, but... I've gotten Luke's 3D model into model editing software and I'm reading a tutorial about this stuff. I'm finally going somewhere after a few days of doing nothing and 3/4 of a day of trying to get everything working. Things will probably go much smoother and quicker from here on... probably.

The bad news is, I've definitely fucked up somewhere along the line, because when I start up the game it's just plain ol' Ellis. The good news is, I'm quite sure the mistake must have been during some of the last few steps. Probably. I think. Maybe. I'll try fixing it tomorrow.

(These updates must be getting pretty tiring for you guys. Trust me, my next post in this thread will be me announcing that it's finished and showing some screenshots and gameplay footage.)I've half-fixed it. What I mean by that is, now it's kind of Luke, and the animations are perfect, but the textures are missing, which I'm going to have to fix if I don't want him to stay looking like a mess of purple and black squares. I know that I've done everything else right because you can tell, despite the lack of textures, that it's definitely Luke's hair and he's not wearing a hat. EDIT: I said I wouldn't be making another post until it's finished, so I'm just editing into this one. Anyway... I have no clue about any of this texture stuff I'm in the group chat of "the" Steam L4D2 modding group, Dead 4 Mods, asking for help about it. Unfortunately, the only other person in chat has his Steam set to "Away". Although he is possibly the most famous L4D modder there is, Zeq Macaw, so if he comes back online and sees my message, he'll almost definitely be able to help me out. Edit 2: That useless group couldn't help me. Great. I have no idea who or what to turn to now. Anyway, here's a pic to make things slightly less depressing: Edit 3: I'm a fucking idiot. The textures were there all along, as .dds files. I guess this is a good thing. Those are convertible to valve texture files, after all, but I'm just pissed that I was too dumb to realise they were there a few days ago. Anyway, I would be saying something cheerful and optimistic right now, but we all know how well that went last time about the group. And the time I said things would go "much smoother and quicker from here on"... heh. Smooth my ass. Edit 4(April 6, 2014): Good news and bad news. Good news: Bad news: ...yeah. I have absolutely no motherfucking idea how to deal with multiple textures. Also, Luke looks weird as fuck in certain lighting conditions... by that, I mean most lighting conditions.

I bet you guys thought I gave up on this project... nope. Finally got the textures working. Of course, now there are some weird lighting bugs, but the good news is, that's pretty much all that's wrong with Luke now, other than a weird hand bug that I know exactly how to fix. Also, you can look at the edits I made to the post above, to see my "journey" to this point. I only thought of adding timestamps when I was making the final edit, though. Anyway, here's an album of screenies I took, because it would take up too much space on the page to embed all of the images in this post: imgur.com/a/4A7MX

Dude, you're too good at this.
How did you fix it anyway, did you use a different program like the other modders did or was it just trial and error with the program you were using anyway?

What, the textures? Turned out the problem had nothing to do with the modelling software. I was too dumb to realise that the textures had been included in the folder with the .obj file. Then I had another problem, which basically meant I could only use one texture(while there are separate textures for body, hair, face, eyes and teeth), but I fixed that by making 2 files per texture- the actual texture files, and texture info files.

Made a quick video because I wanted to do something other than trying to fix stuff for a while.

So... Uh... Is there an issue with his hair? Looks like the transparency in the textures didn't carry over, but I assume that can be fixed.
