yOOOOOO Ozzy whats going on mann Not much, i haven't been here in a while and thought i would see how things where going
that place is literally filled with retards It can be pretty cringy but i was mostly pointing out how it is possible to have long, busy conversations on a linear style forum. There are probably better examples out there to show how well linear works. we're dying and becoming irrelevant

There are probably better examples out there to show how well linear works. we're dying and becoming irrelevant It does seem kind of quiet but i have noticed all forums in general have been a lot quieter in recent years. Some other forums that i visit would have lots of posts per day are now getting less and less, i think this is mainly due to people deciding to use websites like Twitter, Facebook and Reddit rather than traditional forums. Another thing is that i seem to remember this forum was mostly founded by people wanting to talk about Telltale's walking dead game but after the way most Telltale fans felt about ANF they where less interested to talk about it so where unlikely to join forums like this. This forum was also a word of mouth thing but as most people who knew about this place have left the Telltale forums there is hardly anyone around to mention it so less people would even know it exists.

Every forum I've ever posted on is/has dead/died. Usually it morphs into something else to those that build lasting relationships. In one instance, I post on a forum that I made back in 2010 that literally has like five members. In another, our community bounced from forum to forum and when they all died we created a WhatsApp chatt. Been talking with those guys daily since 2015 and have known them since 2009 or so.
So, I mean there's a few options. Forum death isn't necessarily the end. If the people on here are important enough to you, you'll find a way to keep in touch. In the previous cases I listed, I think the downfall of the laptop and computer played an important role. With everything right in the palm of your hand in your smartphone, who the fuck wants to take the time to sit down, open the laptop, punch in the password, go to the website, login, and browse thread after thread? WhatsApp was easier and made way more sense. With this place, there's obviously still deep roots within laptops and computers, so, I've actually got more hope for this forum over most. You guys live on the computer to begin with so it's less of a hassle to come here and post. That said, if the forum still died it would, again, evolve. Whether that be into a Discord chat or simply a group of people you talk to on Steam... whatever.
Point is, it's not just this place that's dying. And even still, as Hogarth Hughes says in The Iron Giant: "it's not bad to die."
(Especially in the eyes of someone like me that has never had any draw to big communities like the Telltale Forums or Reddit. Impossible to build relationships in clusterfucks like that where you don't recognize Bo Jim from Jim Bo. This place is special and the smaller member base and lack of constant activity is a big reason why. I've never once been envious of the Telltale forum or other places. We've got a great group here. I consider you guys my friends. We don't need what other places have. What we have is and always has been enough.)

(Not to disrespect this forum) But this forum has linear, the other forum has(had) threaded. Take a guess at which forum most people prefer. Which forum as more activity? The other forum. It has a lot more activity, so it causes things to get buried pages back before you even get to see them. Linear is for busier chat rooms. It's only rarely effective on places like this forum that get hardly any activity. Have you ever been to the NeoGAF forums? www.neogaf.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=2They are hugely popular with posts happening all the time and yet are in a linear style which everyone can cope with. The reason this forum exists in the first place was mainly because people wanted to evacuate to a normal looking forum to avoid Telltale's Reddit style forum, some other people as well as previous Telltale forum mods left to join forums like Double fine mainly because their friends where there and it again looked and worked like a traditional, linear style forum. lol NEOGAF? Yea, been there couple times. Keyword: couple. It's garbage. >The reason this forum exists in the first place was mainly because people wanted to evacuate to a normal looking forum to avoid Telltale's Reddit style forum Clearly this forum is doing so well.

Yea, i didn't often use it often but form my other post it was used as an example due to how busy it was and how users coped well with the linear style posts but my comment about it is irrelevant now as it just got closed today Gaming Forum NeoGAF Goes Offline Following Allegations Against Owner. Perfect time to use it as an example It was pretty active at one point but people move on and non official forums don't normally do that well in the long run, even official ones are slowly dying and seem to slowly be getting unpopular with people moving to social media.

What great timing (seriously i genuinely find it hilarious) First day you come back Neogaf dies. It's just like you... nice to see you again.

It was a rather large forum where people mostly talked about gaming but from what i have read about it there was a lot of crazy crap that happened there and it has been described as a "cesspool" and a "toxic hell hole" by some people, i only visited there a few times to look at leaks so never say any drama but from reading comments about its closure most people are not sad to see it go.

Considering the number of people here, and the lack of longevity that non official forums suffer from, we're doing just fine. Pretty much all of us left are fairly close friends, and I contact pretty much all of them over steam once in a while. Also, how you doing Ozzy? It's been a while, man!
