"Season 2 is "on hold" until the HBO show ends. Don't expect Season 2 in 2017 or 2018..." From hereNeed to wait for a narrative? Bullshit the first season ends around season 4s finale. We are finished with SEASON 7!!! That is a load of horseshit.

Yeah, it's on hold until TT figures out how to kill off characters so the game can start in the same point for everyone. They probably expect the TV show fans to get the game after the show ends so they can get more of Thrones. But this won't happen. People will move on and won't invest their time into a side-story when they'll know the outcome of the main one. Only some part of the original fanbase will play the game - those who'll care after 5 YEARS, at least. Weird decision from the business standpoint. Yeah that's not going to happen. You gotta strike while the iron is hot. The popularity will go down after the show is finished across the board. Hell I theorize that's going to hurt the book sales, if it ever happens at this point. The game is going to get a raw deal out of this.

So I guess the game will come out in 2020, now that S8 was pushed to 2019.
Good luck trying to sell that game to people, Telltale... five years after Season 1.

I’ll never understand why this game was pushed back so much. It was pretty solid all things considered.

I’ll never understand why this game was pushed back so much. It was pretty solid all things considered. It was probably in preproduction with S1 talent involved and back when TT had more successful game launches and sales... Then they probably realized that they have no idea how to continue, given the S1 ending. Money's an issue too, with recent layoffs. They'll probably end up with a dumbed-down version of their original plans, just like they did with ANF, but we'll see.

I can probably vouch for the pre-production thing considering that there are some character models in Batman 2 that look uncannily like thrones characters who had their models remade in higher quality for a sequel. There's a cop in Batman 2 Ep3 whose head is pretty much just a higher fidelity Lord Whitehill one and Lord Whitehill's hair is also in the game on another character. Telltale's got a track record for reusing old assets, so I reckon they'd probably use some from a scrapped game on one that will actually come out. Just to clarify - this isn't me being salty, it's just an observation; I've pretty much accepted that S2 might never see the light of day at this point lol.

I've accepted that it shouldn't come to light. It will only Kenny S3 our characters.

To be fair The Wolf Among Us 2 is coming out nearly five years after Season 1, so, it's not impossible that this will still come out, and even that it might be good.
I'm not going to stick to this theory until TWD S4 and TWAU 2 come out and we can judge their quality for ourselves, but I really think Telltale made the right move restructuring the company to focus more towards creators and creative directors rather than middle managers after Bruner's departure. We'll just have to see how it pays off. If TWD S4 and TWAU 2 manage to get back some of that good faith... then I might start to get hyped for GOT S2.
