they keep repeating the fucking mariana death... now while child deaths are fine in the walking dead there's just something so sadistic about how it's framed, animated and CONSTANTLY SHOWN OVER AND OVER AGAIN that's disgusting it's like they're fucking proud of it which almost pisses me off more than the fact that it happened in the first place It's like the culmination of "look how DARK and EDGY" we are!!!!!!! It's how her face is still smiling for a second after the bullet goes through her head that really fucks me off. They put so much detail into it, almost like they knew they'd show it over and over to fuck with people. It's so distasteful. Duck's death was 'tasteful' because it was kind of off camera but the player still understands the weight of the scene... while Mari is just "BOOM DEAD KID" with no nuance or anything. Her death as a thing just so blatantly shows how paint-by-numbers telltale has become these days.

What about Telltale showing Sarah being eaten alive by a horde of walkers in season 2? Was that not edgy enough for you?

That was also a shitty moment but see, Mari's death is the culmination of shit dark and edgy moments because they never even gave her the chance to be a character, just did a shitty shock value death at the end of episode 1.

Both are fucking disgusting, Mari's is worse because of how much detail goes into it and how they go out of their way to manipulate the player. It's not natural emotion. At least Sarah doesn't get Norma-esque guts all over the place.

Well by that logic Pete could fall under that category too.

Look, it felt like a real, human moment as opposed to an artificial shock value moment. That's what it comes down to, and can we please drop this? I hate doing this, but I'd rather not argue with you. You've proven over and over that it's just never worth arguing with you.

Pete got one of the two best scenes in all of twdg2 If you saved him in Ep. 1. Otherwise he got a Mariana death. No, even his Episode 1 death was leagues ahead of Mariana's. Because by that point Pete was an actual character. We saw good things about him in the way he was friendly and stood up for Clem when nobody else would, and we saw his faults, in the way he went to hard on Nick when helping to raise him which caused a mutual resentment between the two. We see his regrets, and we see him get careless, and even if he's left behind we don't see the camera focusing on him and showing the walkers tearing all his guts out while it zooms in going "LOOK AT THE ONLY NICE CHARACTER GETTING BRUTALLY KILLED, SHOCKING RITE? LOOK CLOSER ARE YOU SEEING THIS? #EDGY." Instead we see Nick trying desperately to save him, and failing, which serves to give us insight to Nick's character, that even though he's been acting like a douche he's still a good person, just like his Uncle Pete was. Out of all the people that could have been shot in that scene, who were all in the open, it was the harmless little girl instead of the swole guy with an M16 who stands taller than Mount McKinley, or Javier who'd repeatedly fucked over TNF by that point. Mariana's death was the definition of pointless shock value. She had no buildup beyond being innocent, and the way the scene focuses on her brains getting splattered over half the junkyard was just to show how "Cruel" and "Dark" Season 3 is supposed to be for no other reason than that it can.

Just gonna say that I'd argue that Marianna was a character when she died, which honestly made her death that much fucking worse.
