I recently learned something that made me very sad. Julian Assange is missing. After spending 4 years essentially on house arrest in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, Assange has gone missing. They took away his internet privileges in order to prevent him from interfering in the American election a few weeks ago, which is understandable. But he has yet to return. A subreddit has popped up, in hopes of finding the guy, following any clues as to whether Assange is alive or dead. Y'all should check out the subreddit: www.reddit.com/r/WhereIsAssange/Apparently, a video/live Q&A of Assange will be done in January. Some have pointed out that this will be after the electoral college votes in December, leaving me to wonder why he's been kept out until then. I mean, the vote is done. What do they expect him to do?

But Assange is a hero. okie-dokie, I'll take your word for it. Yay Assange :'''''''''''''''''( But he's missing. Like really missing. He's a person that governments have wanted dead for the past four years, and only Ecuador gave him sanctuary. He's been stuck in two rooms in their London embassy for the past four years. And now, the embassy is empty, but his cat was left behind, and he hasn't given proof of life since the embassy was emptied.

But seriously, I don't want to engage myself in this. Because when I engage myself in an issue, I stay engaged. I plant my stakes, and I know I can take things a little too seriously when it comes to how it can affect my life. I don't want that right now with finals papers and projects coming up for college. But, from my surface level understanding, I get why this is important. Really though, all I can do is learn more and plant my stakes. I can't even do anything meaningful, and doing the other thing could become a stress factor in my life. Sorry, but I'm really only going to engage with this on the surface level of it.

Not that this is even polotical, I don't know that it is and don't think it is, I'm just not really ready to be part of The Discourse just yet. And do we really disagree on that many things?

Not really, but I thought it sounded dramatic.

I honestly don't care much for the man, I see positives and negatives. But just vanishing is never good.

I honestly don't care much for the man, I see positives and negatives. But just vanishing is never good. Huh. I missed this comment. Honestly, I think his positives far outweigh his negatives. For one, the information he's given to the public has done wonders to uphold the freedoms that we take for granted. He has prevented those in power from taking advantage of us. And to me, that makes pretty much all other points moot. Not to mention, the rape allegations on him are stupid, and handled in a way that would set Julian up for extradition to the United States, where he would likely serve years and years in American prison, just as Chelsea Manning did. But anyways, I came back to this thread because this stuff has been keeping me up at night. I haven't slept much recently. Partially due to finals stress, partially due to me mourning for one of my heroes. Just every day feels like we're in smaller and smaller boxes. Especially with that thing I posted on the political thread the other day, I just have been feeling hopeless for the future. :/

Though I would argue the positives outway the negatives. Hope he's alright.

It is funny how we never hear about anything like this in the major news networks.
