More info on Eps. 5-8: The new Order of the Stone travels to Sky City in search of a temple containing mysterious treasure. Along the way, Jesse and friends will butt heads with Aiden (a former Ocelot), who convinces the people of Sky City that the Order is up to no good.
The cast is growing with the addition of a few big names. Sean Astin (Raphael in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2012), Jim Meskimen (Martin Housely on Parks and Recreation), and Melissa Hutchison (Clementine from Telltale’s The Walking Dead) will be joining the fun.
Goddammit, I knew Aiden would cause more trouble for Jesse. Though, I never thought he'd go this far. And I'm pretty sure he's still pissed at me for calling him an idiot back at the Endercon.

As far as I know Telltale has never canceled an announced game, so I wouldn't worry as far as TWD and GOT are concerned. Seems to me like they're doing this to put with Batman to tide us over till the end of the year when TWD S3 comes out.

That was probably a copy right issue, but still.

I... honestly don't have too much of a problem with this. I mean, better than a second season. I understand why they're doing it, because Story mode sold well, right? Honestly, I don't care that it's a cash-grab. In theory it means they've got more resources to put into stuff like Batman, TWD S3, and GOT S2. And honestly, while this has been a "better than average" series at best, it's still fairly enjoyable for $5 an episode.

I mean, yeah Telltale's using this for a cash grab, but they're making it a pretty good cash grab IMO. This way they can put the money they make from this to make TWD S3, Batman, and GOT S2 their best games yet!

I had that exact same mindset you guys had during Season 1, and I still give them the benefit of the doubt that they actually were interested in the source material. But for these extra episodes - even if I don't think the story will be bad by any means, I still feel like this is only getting extra episodes because of the Minecraft label. The episodes will still be alright, I'm sure, and as you said - that money will go towards making Dead Season 3/Batman/Thrones Season 2/Marvel/etc better, but even I think this extra DLC is for the money first.

To be fair, people said Borderlands was going to be a cash-grabber too. Even though Borderlands had a story to it, people said the story in the Borderlands was too shallow and that Telltale was just shoehorning it into the Telltale template, as a Borderlands Telltale game would never work.

I'm going to say something crazy. Bear with me. I don't think there's going to be an episode 5. It's way too quiet out there. No like the kind of quiet you find in a Western town right before something bad is going to go down on main street and everyone is hiding in the saloon, the kind of quiet you find in a Western ghost town. I think Telltale originally planned on five episodes, realized that they only had enough story for four, panicked and decided to stick with the five episode plan on the basis of changing things up for a really special finale. There won't be one. Here's why. Who is the target market for Minecraft: Story Mode? Kids. Kids and maybe some scattered Telltale fans. With the latter, who would really care if there were no episode 5? Barely anyone is following along. Just look at this board... the majority of Telltale fans love Telltale because their games featured great stories that are either funny or deeply depressing. That's how it's been since The Walking Dead. Hell, probably even before that. Minecraft since the beginning hasn't captured the Telltale audience nor does it feel like a game that fits within the Telltale mold. Very few of those players would care, aside from maybe thinking about the $4-5 Telltale stole. Now, kids... tell me, what's one of the most common characteristics in children? Short attention spans. They don't understand the promise of five episodes. They just know that when a new episode is out, play it. Kids care about stories. The story of Minecraft: Story Mode? It's complete. Wrapped. There's not one loose end. Remember the scene in Elf when Buddy the Elf's dad Walter Hobbs' is being chewed out by his boss because he signed off on a book to go to print when it wasn't finished? Kids were upset because they wanted to know "how a certain puppy and a certain pigeon escape the clutches of a certain evil witch." The story wasn't finished so kids noticed and bemoaned the fact. Minecraft IS finished. The children are satisfied having been given a complete story. Really, Telltale didn't need to do anything with them. But since they had the other players, they had to make promises of another great, special episode. To a child, that's like promising something really special and awesome and totally cool! ...But it's something that won't happen right away, but in a couple of months. What does that kid do? He might pester you for a few days about it hoping to be told what it is or to get it now. Eventually, that kid stops giving a fuck and forgets. So, now, Telltale is playing the waiting game. They're stalling, hoping that if they wait long enough, everyone will just forget that Minecraft: Story Mode was even supposed to have five episodes. When you look at who buys and plays this game, it's an ingenious strategy. Didn't fool me because I'm as sharp as a bear trap in cave full of stalagmites and stalactites, but very smart nonetheless. Oh, those were simpler days.

Hell, even TWD and GOT can be considered cash grabs too since they're based off popular IPs.

Hell, even TWD and GOT can be considered cash grabs too since they're based off popular IPs. It's a cash grab if each episode is barely over an hour long and has alot of lazy writing and uninteresting characters. TFTBL isn't a cash grab because there is alot of effort put into the production of the episodes, there is genius writing and the characters are written extremely well. I played maybe 20 minutes of Minecraft and watched several other scenes (what can I say, my curiosity got to me) and it literally was completely uninteresting and felt like Telltale was just itching to get an episode out to produce more profit.
