DON'T DO THIS And this happens while TFTBL and TWAU will forever remain single-season games. No. Just... no. NO! NO! Bad Telltale! Bad! You can't possibly do that!

Coming from someone who didn't mind Season 1 and liked the idea of Telltale trying to tackle a niche that normally would not fit Telltale's template (kinda like Borderlands), even I'm iffy on Minecraft getting more than one Season. While Walking Dead/Game of Thrones had compelling universes, this (likely) continuation doesn't seem to have a lot going for it other than being based off of a big franchise. Even I'm willing to admit the choice to continue this series seems more corporatey than anything else. Oh boy, you are pretty optimistic when it comes to Telltale, so when you think its all for the cash, that's something.

I mean, I'm not saying the story is going to be bad - I'm just saying that, as a franchise from a story perspective, I don't think either Minecraft or Telltale's original Story Mode universe are anything special that would warrant more than one Season in my personal opinion. At this point, I think they wanted to just sell more episodes. I mean, I get it and it's smart business sense, but still.
With other oddball projects like Borderlands, it would make sense because of fan response, and even the bigger franchises like Walking Dead or Game of Thrones are plausible as they allow for expansive story telling, but this just seems like Telltale wanted some more Minecraft episodes to sell. The story wasn't bad or anything, but I personally don't feel it really stood out like Wolf, Tales, Dead, etc.

Now listen. I'm just as pissed as the next guy that Telltale's deciding to continue this over Tales or TWAU, but who knows? Maybe Telltale will actually get their shit together and make it an enjoyable series.

Wow. Just wow.
From the information on the Telltale Blog, it looks like TT planned the Minecraft S1 with the story being squeezed into eps 1-4, with the finale being planned from the very beginning as a bait to buy additional episodes. I mean, Ep5 starts the story that is supposed to continue in three paid DLCs...
I mean, it's almost as if TT went this way - "you're getting a 4-episode season with a one pre-installed DLC - the rest will have to be purchased separately!"
If people weren't convinced that this was nothing else than a chash grab, then this is the moment when they should finally open their eyes.

More info on Eps. 5-8: The new Order of the Stone travels to Sky City in search of a temple containing mysterious treasure. Along the way, Jesse and friends will butt heads with Aiden (a former Ocelot), who convinces the people of Sky City that the Order is up to no good.
The cast is growing with the addition of a few big names. Sean Astin (Raphael in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2012), Jim Meskimen (Martin Housely on Parks and Recreation), and Melissa Hutchison (Clementine from Telltale’s The Walking Dead) will be joining the fun.

HOW DARE YOU REFER TO SEAN ASTIN AS RAPHAEL! It's Sam from Lord of the Rings!

HOW DARE YOU REFER TO SEAN ASTIN AS RAPHAEL! It's Sam from Lord of the Rings! Had no idea. I've never had any desire to watch the LOTR series as I despise medieval stuff with GOT being the exception. As such the only things I knew him from were TMNT 2012 and The Goonies.

I can't say I am excited for any of this however, for pretty obvious reasons.
