So... I was thinking about this a while ago. Was Ethan's death really necessary? I know it serves the purpose of making the players hate House Whitehill and Bolton, but apart from that, I don't think it makes a lot of difference. I'm not sure about this but I think Talia is pretty much the same all over the season, so Ethan's death didn't really change her much. Elissa doesn't change much either. I'm probably wrong here but other people of Ironrath just don't give a fuck about his death.
Wouldn't it have been better if he stayed as the lord instead of Rodrik? It would have been interesting to see his development through the season (I think MP said that somewhere), and the choice at the end would have been actually harder than it is. Would you let Ethan die at a young age, after everything he did for the house as the lord? Would you let Talia's twin die? How would she react now? That could be determinant, like, if you changed too much through the season she would be more or less upset about his death, for example. Just think about all the possibilities.

Yeah, I did say that in the favorite characters thread.
I don't dislike Ethan's death scene, I think it was good, to show that main characters aren't invincible and how unpredictable Game of Thrones can be. But, on the other hand, it was kind of a waste of potential of Ethan being a main protagonist. Just imagine how his development could of went in the entire season, like during the Gryff situation, a possible Ethan and Asher choice at the end of episode 5, see more of his relationship with Talia and see if at the end of the season he would break his promise to Talia about not changing or not, and his reaction to the traitor turning out to be the one he din't chose at Sentinel.
I wish that his purpose in the game wasn't just to be Ramsay's first Forrester kill just to show how cruel he is. Hell, if I had to choose between Ethan and Mira's stories, I would choose Ethan's story to continue rather than Mira's.

Same. I get Telltale was trying to show how no one is safe in GOT, but they still could've done it differently. Hell, it was because of this that made them make Mira and Rodrik/Asher determinate (An interview confirmed that Mira was originally intended to die, and Asher would always be the brother who died). If I could, I'd have Ramsay like maybe torture or injure Ethan in a way that he'd be unplayable for the remainder of the season, so we'd still have Rodrik take over his role, but we'd still be able to interact with him and maybe make "some" decisions still as Ethan. HE could've ended up having warg powers like Josera did for all we know.
