So, after a session today with a few friends... and n8... it appears that not everyone is as versed in the game as I am (Not intended to be insulting, I was obsessed with the game for a long while so I know pretty much all the ins and outs... and that wasn't intended to sound arrogant) so here's some pointers:
-Pipebombs should not be used on the Tank. He isn't attracted to them like normal zombies (None of the special infected are) and the fuse is too long to reliably be able to damage him. -ALWAYS stick together and be in sight of your teammates. If you aren't then you'll die, or your team may get badly hurt/dead if they come try to save you in the middle of a horde. -Don't toss a molotov at the Tank if he has a teammate cornered. You'll set them both on fire, but the Tank is much more resistant to flame than other players are. This is a good way to kill friends when you're trying to save them. On that note, once the Tank has been set on fire don't throw another molotov at him. -SMGs and Pump Shotguns (Tier 1 Weapons) should be discarded immediately upon finding Assault Rifles or Automatic Shotguns (Tier 2 Weapons). They have better damage and piercing power. -Never light the Witch on fire. Try to find your way around her first, as the witches are much more docile in the second game than they used to be. If the Witch has already been startled, lighting her on fire will cause her to switch targets and try to murder YOU, even if someone else startled her. -Hitting the Tank with melee (A regular shove or a slash from a melee weapon) will cause him to switch targets to you. Good for distracting him from wounded teammates, if you can outrun him afterward. Also, using any sort of mounted gun will also turn you into the Tank's primary target if one is nearby.
There's probably more but this is all I could think of at the drop of a hat.

Oh, uh, I forgot one other, important thing: Always watch where you're firing, especially if your teammates have low health. If you're not careful then even the best of intentions can have... consequences... forgive me brotato
