Eh, that video was kind of dumb. Why? Just some of the things he said where pretty dumb, like how sadistic games have no value, well I mean if it's fun well then that's a value, and that's all it really needs to be. And "who gets excited about killing people" well you're not killing people, you're killing pixels on a screen, if the game is well made and fun then why not. I don't really care about Hatred and I'm not going to buy it, but some of that was pretty dumb.

I think what he may have meant is that sadism in games(when sadism is the only goal) has no redeeming value. The game can still be fun from a technical aspect. At least, that's what I'd say. And again, I think if you phrase the second thing as sadism... I mean, even if you use the "it's not real" argument, being excited by bringing pain is still pretty wrong. To phrase it this way, outside of the video, just what I think: If you make a game purely about hurting people, then yes the game can still be fun. Split it into the technical and mechanical aspect, how it's built and all that, yeah, it can still be fun. But I agree that sadism, as something being portrayed in the game, in a game that is about sadism... yeah, there's not really any value to that. If it isn't trying to question sadism, if it just is sadistic.... Then.... well... yeah. For the record Hatred is just so badly made in its design that I think it's kind of funny. I mean, the ending is just funny in a stupid way.

The whole "is it right to make/play these kinds of games" argument is one I couldn't be arsed to get into, all I'll say is, just because I had fun killing innocent people in a game, doesn't mean I like to in real life, I just enjoy solid shooting mechanic's and shooting shit. I mean what's the difference between Hatred and something like CoD? Sure in CoD the context is different, but in the end you're still getting entertainment solely from shooting people.

No, I agree with you on that. And I would say that people have the right to make whatever games they should. Games not necessarily about killing people, but about bringing pain to others for the purpose of your own pleasure.... that shit is sick. I don't think Hatred is that. Hatred isn't really sadistic. And to be honest, it's not all that violent either.

I guess, if it's a game about torturing people, I'd agree with the video, like an entire game based around the torture mini game in GTA, but just shooting people with violence as tame as it is in Hatred, I don't agree at all.

Yeah. I think the video made some interesting points, but they don't really apply to Hatred. Thankfully, I can't really think of any games about torture. Aside from that one flash game about torturing people that I enjoyed as a kid. But I enjoyed that because of two reasons. One, I definitely wouldn't have been allowed to play it, and two, it was so unrealistic that it just became funny.

Also there's a really good game about torturing people, I like it." You're being a bit hypocritical right now, you know.

Well, he said he was younger, and you haven't seen the game (at least if we're talking about the same one) It's like tearing apart soft toy.

Trust me, if you ever played it, you'd know the difference. It's so unrealistic and detached from anything real that I'd almost classify it as comedy.

I kind of want to find the one I'm talking about to see if it's the same one you're talking about, but I kind of forgot where I found it or what it was called... But yeah, the guy looked more like a test dummy than an actual person. Well, a test dummy with blood.
