Episode Five: Ready For Death
A couple days later, the community is camping out on a hill after leaving the Outpost to try and trick Brock and his men about their location. Vince, Hector, and Russell decide to go on a supply run as well as try to find Gary and Jason. They find a gas station where they find some snacks. While inside, Hector is almost bit by a walker, but Russell saves his life. All of the sudden, the three of the hear something in the backroom. Vince creeps up to the door, opening it quickly and see Jason sitting on the floor covering his face while sobbing, he also has a bloody knife in his hand. They manage to calm him down and he explains that he just lost it after his father died.
The four of them make it back to the hill camp and get ready for the night. Natalia, Rodd, Jaycie, Jackson, and Thomas all keep watch. During this, Lucia asks Thomas why he was willing to hand himself over to Brock for her, and he tells her that she helped him redeem himself and become a better person. Later that night, the group hears crying. The people that are still awake, including Vince, and Lucia, run down the hill so see Cole crying on the ground with Jason standing over him, knife in hand. Carla screams at this, fearing for her boy’s life. Vince dives onto Jason, disarming him and then restraining him with the help of Hector and Thomas. Hazel almost just kills Jason out of frustration for his stupid acts, but Vince quickly talks her out of it. Carla makes sure that Cole is okay, which he is. Vince brings Jason back up to the hill and into a tent, where he asks Jason why he did what he did. He just replies that he was toughening Cole up for the real world.
Sully and Emily walk into the tent after hearing this and both go deep into thought. Sully suggests they send him away, but Emily thinks that is too harsh. Tired and stressed out, Vince decides he will think about what to do with Jason until the morning. He makes sure that some people keep watch on Jason as he thinks about the situation all through the night.
Vince wakes up the next morning to screams. He runs out of his tent to see the whole community standing in a group in front of a heavily armored tank. The tank is being driven by Randy, while Brock is on top of it and James is on the gunner. Brock declares that there will be a lot of bloodshed, then says he wants to play a game. He demands that Vince shows himself, so he does. As soon as he shows himself, Brock starts punching Vince to the ground. Lucia runs out to try and help, but James just threatens to mow her down. Brock orders the community to put their guns down, or Vince dies, so they all obey him. Sully then demands that Annie, Becca, Maya, Natalia, and Hector come out and get on their knees. Having no other choice, they obey. Brock then tells Vince that he must choose two people to die. Refusing to do so, Brock just laughs and says the he’ll just kill them all then. Pushing Vince to the ground, Brock takes out a pistol and walks over to the five kneeling people. He points the gun at Hector’s head first, but before he can fire, Jaycie comes out of hiding and shoots him in the shoulder. Before anything else can happen though, Jaycie is shot to death by James.
Now very angry, Brock orders Randy to start shooting off the tank cannons. Everyone ducks for cover as Randy shoots off the first cannon, ending the episode.

Episode Six: Loss of Life
The first cannon hits only a couple of innocent community people, but the second deals as it hits even more people. Vince and the rest of the large community fight back as Randy shoots the cannons, James shoots the machine gunner on the tank, and Brock hides behind the tank. Unknown to Becca, the tank aims in her direction. Deborah sees this and pushes her out of the way, the cannon obliterating her. Becca runs for cover, sad that Deborah had to sacrifice herself for her. She looks around for Max, Deborah’s son, but can’t find him anywhere on the battlefield.
Vince, Sully, Emily, Hector, and Russell hide behind cover as they shoot back on the tank. Vince starts to tell them his plan of flanking the tank, but he is cut off when a bullet hits Hector in the back of the head, killing him instantly. The rest of them are then forced to run for better cover.
Thomas runs into Hazel after running out of ammo. Hazel gives him some more and the two work together to try and take down the tank. Thomas looks out and see a a horde of hundreds of walkers coming towards them. He tells Hazel, and the two of them start to shout out that the sea of the dead is about to come and wipe all of them out.
Vince starts to order for everyone to retreat down the hill and run until they lost the tank. He also hears Brock order James and Randy to hurry up and kill everyone still alive.
Natalia is in cover with Rodd and Ryan when she spots Becca. She calls her over and tells her that they have to run, but Becca tells her that Deborah is dead and that they must find Annie and Max. Natalia agrees to this, but Rodd doesn’t, scared that he will lose Natalia and Ryan.
The horde is getting closer and closer, and Lucia notices this. While running from the tank, she bumps into Annie and Maya. The three of them also bump into Thomas and Hazel, and they decide they have to leave after finding Becca for Annie’s sake.
Vince, Sully, Emily, and Russell find Becca, Natalia, Rodd, and Ryan on the battlefield as the horde finally closes in on them. Spotting Annie, Maya, Thomas, Hazel, and Annie, they all start to run together. After firing off a few more cannons, the tank and the three men retreat. While running with everyone else, Vince sees Carla getting devoured by the walkers. He also sees Thomas pick up Max from the ground right before he got bit.
After slowing down, the group loses the herd. They all catch their breath until Hazel points out Jackson holding Jason at gunpoint, as Vince realizes the two of them were never spotted during the battle. Maya asks Jackson where he was, and Jackson guiltily tells them that he took Jason and fled after the first tank cannon. He asks Vince for forgiveness, and right as it looks that Vince is going to forgive him, he comes up to Jackson and starts punching him in the face. After a few more punches, he is restrained by Sully and Thomas. After calming him down, Becca and Annie make sure that they are okay.
Thomas holds Jason at gunpoint just in case as Lucia helps clean up the blood on Jackson’s face. Vince makes a mental note that now the group consists of himself, Annie, Becca, Maya, Lucia, Sully, Emily, Thomas, Hazel, Jason, Jackson, Natalia, Rodd, Ryan, and Russell. Deborah, Liz, Jaycie, and Hector on the hill as well as the rest of the community members that he never knew the names of. He also notes that Gary has been missing since before they camped out on the hill, and Cole went missing in the middle of the battle.
Vince tells the group that they are going back to the outpost where they can get weapons, and then a small team of people would volunteer to go and hunt down Brock, James, and Randy. They make it to the outpost, and Vince then asks for volunteers, as well as tells them that what they are doing is a suicide mission and that they will probably all die during it. Jackson volunteers so he can redeem himself. Thomas also volunteers, but Vince tells him that he wants him to stay so he can protect Lucia. Vince says he will be going on the mission, and right after Hazel, Rodd, and Becca volunteer. Vince tries to stop Becca from coming, saying that if they both die then Annie will have no one left. Becca denies this, saying that the three of them have made it through everything together up until this pint, and they would do it again this time. Vince also declares that Jason will be coming along on the mission to make himself useful, so the finalized team is Vince, Becca, Hazel, Rodd, Jackson, and Jason. They stock up on weapons, including some grenades and even some heavy machine guns.
Natalia and Ryan tearfully say goodbye to Rodd and tell him to come back safe. He promises them he will as he hugs them. After this, Becca also says goodbye to Natalia as well as Sully and Emily. Annie runs up to Vince and Becca, and they all have a group hug while crying. After this, Vince makes Maya promise that she will take care of Annie. Right before leaving, Lucia and Vince share one final kiss, and then the team leaves for the suicide mission as they leave Annie, Maya, Lucia, Sully, Emily, Thomas, Natalia, Ryan, Max, and Russell.
The team makes it to a small town with Vince in the lead. They search around but find nothing, but that all changes when the tank suddenly comes out from hiding as it starts shooting at them. Brock laughs maniacally and tells them that it is the end of them, but Vince isn’t for that. He orders for the others to start throwing all of their grenades at the tank, and they obey. Soon after, the tank spirals out of control as it crashes into a house and explode, killing Randy. Vince scans the area and to his dismay sees that Brock and James had jumped off of the tank before it blew up.
Furious, Brock and James start to shoot at them. James manages to shoot Jason in the head, which kills him instantly. Vince sees Rodd also get shot in the leg, but he is still alive. Coming up from behind, Becca stabs James in the back with her knife. He tries to shoot her, but Vince saves her by shooting him in the head before he can pull the trigger. Brock uses his last few bullet to kill Jackson, and after he throws the gun away and taunts Vince to a fistfight. Vince looks to Rodd for backup, but sees he is passed out on the floor from his leg bullet wound. He also sees that Hazel is unable to fight due to a gunshot wound in the abdomen, although she is still alive.
Vince agrees to the fistfight after telling Hazel and Becca to stay back, and so they start. Brock beats Vince mercilessly, calling him worthless and a coward. Brock manages to twist and break Vince’s right leg as well as his left wrist. Screaming in pain, Vince tries to get back up but he can’t. Becca runs towards Brock to stab him, but he reveals that he has been hiding a gun in his back pocket. He holds her at gunpoint and tells her to go back next to the dying Hazel. He then adds pressure to Vince’s wounds and then shoots him in the stomach. Bleeding out, Vince tries to find a way to stop Brock, but he can’t.
Becca runs towards Brock again as he points the gun at her and pulls the trigger, but only the sound of a click comes out, signifying that he has run out of ammo. Becca jumps onto him and stabs him in the chest multiple times until he’s just a bloody dead mess. She tries to help Vince up, telling him that it is all over and that they can go home now, but Vince just tells her he’s not going to make. He looks and sees that Hazel is now dying slowly from the gunshot in her abdomen. Although now Rodd is awake and trying to get up. Vince tells Becca to take Rodd and get out of the town back to the Outpost before walkers sweep the area. After refusing at first, Becca realizes that it is the right thing to do. They tearfully say goodbye to each other as Vince tells Becca to take care of her “Little Sister” Annie. Becca thanks Vince for all he has done, then loads one bullet into a pistol on the floor and gives it to Vince just in case he doesn’t want to have to suffer the pain of dying slowly or getting eaten by the walkers.
Becca helps Rodd up as Hazel leans on both of them, trying to hold onto her life. Becca looks back at Vince one last time before exiting the town to make her way back to the Outpost with Rodd and Hazel. Now alone, Vince stares up at the sky and smiles one last time, happy that Becca and Annie were finally safe with Sully, Emily, Lucia, Maya, and Russell, as well as everyone else at the Outpost. The walkers then enter the area. He points the gun at his head and pulls the trigger, finally ending his life.
Becca walks along with Rodd and Hazel, crying because of Vince’s death. All of the sudden, Hazel falls to the floor due to losing too much blood. She tries to speak, but she can’t. Becca looks at a very worried Rodd as she takes a deep breath and shoots Hazel in the head to prevent reanimation. The season ends as Becca and Rodd come into view of the outpost. They see Annie and Lucia running to them to see if they were okay. Becca wipes her tears away, sucking it up and preparing to tell everyone about Vince.

Mental. Oddly enough I was planning to kill Vince at some point during Season 3, perhaps during the end of Episode 4 when Silas made his return. I think he was going to stab Vince in the chest. A lot has changed since then... Vince was going to get burned by something, Annie was going to lose an eye instead of Emily etc...
I was also thinking that if I'd done a Season 4 I probably would've gone for a redemption arc for Hazel, too. She was always more questioning of Rook and Church, as well as being more dejected and reluctant.

Yeah, I felt a little iffy about killing Vince at the end because I wasn't sure if you would actually do that in a real Season 4, and I wanted to make this as close to your storytelling as possible. Anyways, I'm already writing a Season 5, first episode will be posted in the next couple of days.

I still have some stuff I might want to do in future, not really a full fourth season or anything but if I do it might retcon some of the stuff you came up with. Not deliberately, though.

Couldn't hold it any more. This is our DLC type episode, unrelated to the tales of Becca, Annie and Vince. This is what Survivor Stories became, and it has more purpose than just covering some stuff I ignored in the past. We won't just see old characters, but new ones too, in an episode that takes place before? after? Season 3. (Also it'll be posted under Season 3 on FF.net fo dem reviews). When, I hear you ask? No clue. Chapters won't be daily, and I've only written one so far. It's gonna be much more staggered, think of Tales From The Wellingtonlands' schedule as opposed to the daily chapters/staggered episodes of ITF. Could be a day between chapters, could be a week. All I know is, it'll solve some questions and pose more. It'll make ya think. Also Hunter1324 already knew about this and helped me name the episode. Originally it was gonna be "Tell No Tales", as in "Dead men tell no tales" but "Those Left Behind" rolls off the tongue better and it's more appropriate for the scenario. I'll be back with a 'release' date whenever, but for now you guys can discuss and speculate.
