Just read the first trade of Afterlife With Archie, and it was AMAZING.
If you've ever read Archie comics, this is the characters set in a zombie apocalypse. It's written very well, and gets pretty dark. Never thought I'd see a horror spin-off of this series. Bad thing is that the trade paperbacks take forever to come out, so I have to resort to reading the individual issues.

So Invincible is nominated this year for the Eisner Award for Best Ongoing Series. Alongside Bandette, Giant Days, Silver Surfer, and Southern Bastards. Of those others, I've only heard of Giant Days, a contemporary comic about an American girl going to college in England, and Southern Bastards, a realistic fiction comic about a small southern town(reminiscent of the writer's previous work, Scalped, which was about life on a Reservation). Really hoping Invincible wins. Also hoping that Elizabeth Breitweiser takes the Eisner for best colorist for Outcast. She definitely deserves it. Aside from that. Brian K. Vaughn's new series, Paper Girls, was nominated for Best New Series and it kind of makes me want to read it. Monstress was as well, and my local comic shop just got the first trade in, so.... Rafael Albuquerque is up for best cover artist and I want him to win it simply because he's the only one I know. Aside from that, I don't care too much about the other nominations, but there's a list here if anyone else wants to check them out: www.comic-con.org/awards/2016-eisner-award-nominees

So I've bought Huck and Monstress, and I'll read those soon, along with more Morning Glories.
Batman Rebirth continues to be pretty great.
I also bought Hotline Miami - Wildlife. Only one issue is available right now, but I'll be getting the rest monthly as they come out. It's the same people who did the digital comics to promote Hotline Miami 2, so hopefully it'll be pretty good.

Oh wow, Invincible is ending?
Never really gotten into it, but it's good to see Kirkman actually putting an end to one of his series.

Got the first Transformers IDW Compendium and Outcast volume 3. I'm about to finish Transformers and the human characters are actually tolerable for once, not to mention the various Transformers are all well balanced, with Blurr, Hot Rod, and Prowl being my favorites so far.
I'll probably start reading my Outcast volume 3 tomorrow and post my review on the Outcast thread.

Gonna give my opinion on the DC Rebirth comics I've been reading even though no one asked or cares because I've got nothing better to do:
Batgirl and Batgirl and the Birds of Prey are both bad. And that sucks. There's something really sad about the fact that I'm not enjoying either series featuring the character that got me into superhero comics in the first place.
Batman was good and I still really like Claire Clover as a character, but now they've moved into a storyline about Bane and Catwoman and..... well, yeah, I've lost interest temporarily.
Nightwing is cool. So is Redhood and the Outlaws. Love those two characters, love their respective series'.
All-Star Batman has been fantastic. That being said, I'm kind of ready for this Two-Face storyline to be over. A bit disappointed that Poison Ivy and Mr. Freeze only get one issue each, while Two-Face had five. But whatever, Scott Snyder is still one of my favorite writers, and (for now) still my favorite Batman writer(Tom King is really close though...)
Teen Titans is good but Damien Wayne is still an arrogant prick.
I just started Detective Comics and that is probably my favorite if we're being honest. I love it. A team-up book for the less featured bat-kids with Batwoman as the leading character. Love it. And outside of the story, how cool is it that DC took Detective Comics, their second longest running series, and made the main character a minority LGBT woman? I mean, I know if I knew the inner-workings of DC, the discussion would be a fairly cold and calculated consideration of how best to show to the public that they're "progressive", but the fact is that Kate Kane is now the main character of Detective Comics, and however that came about, it's awesome.
Started reading Wonder Woman and it's fucking awesome. Not as interesting to me as most of the Batman stuff, but still pretty awesome.

Zyphon you know of any comics with a cool female lead that ISN'T a superhero of any kind?
Well, I mean, she can be, just not like a costumed one.

Zyphon you know of any comics with a cool female lead that ISN'T a superhero of any kind? Well, I mean, she can be, just not like a costumed one. Yeah I can think of a few. As far as contemporary comics, I've heard of Giant Days and Lumberjanes. Can't personally speak about them because I haven't read them. I did just read She-Wolf, kind of a surrealist fantasy thing. Saga..... eh... I don't know if I'd say it has a female lead. It has a female narrator, but she's a baby when the story starts. More recently, I can say she's definitely the lead character. Wytches, American Vampire.... and I think there's one more I've read and really enjoyed, but I might just be imagining it. And then there's a couple others I've heard of.... and some that I honestly don't know if they have female leads but I'd be willing to guess that they do. Oh! Trees and Sex Criminals were the ones I couldn't think of.

Oh yeah and I've heard Paper Girls is kind of like Stranger Things but the main characters are a group of nerdy girls instead of a group of nerdy boys.

Anyone else hyped for Snot Girl? I'm getting the trade paperback next year when it releases, and I'm looking forward to read something from Bryan Lee O'Malley again. Seconds was so fantastic. Oh wow, Invincible is ending? Never really gotten into it, but it's good to see Kirkman actually putting an end to one of his series. I'm convinced the only reason he's ending it is because it's not a cashcow like his other series.

So I've finished the "I am Suicide" storyline of Batman.
Not good. Explored the relationship between Catwoman and Batman in a melodramatic, overly serious way. All this flowery language about pain and loss is just... It's well written but just bogs the whole thing down. Explored the psyche of Bane. Except he's a boring villain and throughout the whole.... thing... he.... talks.. like... this.... and.... it's.... annoying.... to .... read... Tried to go for a Batman building his own Suicide Squad thing but that doesn't work when the villains you have are Bronze Tiger and The Ventriloquist... like, fucking nobodies, basically.
The whole thing just took itself way too serious and I honestly didn't care about any of the characters involved. I just want Bats to be back in Gotham and for this storyline to be done and for Catwoman to be out of the picture please.
