My Grandma just came over and was saying how great the premiere was. I basically gave up on it last Season. It was bad, imo. Bad acting and dialogue as usual and just wtf was going on.

Ehh, honestly, the episode was interesting IMO. I was expecting it to be shittier but it got me intrigued pretty easily, and at first I didn't understand either but I got it when the episode finished. I read a review before I watched it and I knew pretty much that alternate realities shit was going to be present in the episode. I even told my sister that the episode was going to be so fucking bad as always and that they went into a different direction and all that... and I was wrong. Basically the "Dome" put them all in those realities to make them believe they were out, just to change their personalities or something like that. Nothing was real, they never got out of the dome. The dialogue and acting is still kinda bad but I usually don't care about that except if it's very noticeable, and for me it isn't.

The first episode of Humans was on today. I'm liking it so far. The scene with Odi and George was pretty sad, actually.
Also, Robot Sex. Eh, interesting.

Wow, Humans was a lot better than I thought it was going to be, and I was looking forward to it before. Slight spoilers below, I'm not going to spoiler tag it since I don't spoiler anything big.
First off, the Synth actors are incredible. Every single one of them. Except maybe Niska. All of them are just slightly different from the regular humans. They move differently, and also the looks they give. Even the singularities like Max and Fred still move and act slightly differently. Niska, on the other hand, just acts like a completely normal human. Which, yes, she is one of the singularities, but still, all of them had at least some synth qualities in their movement and voice... she just doesn't.
The scenes with Odi and George were actually really sad... I'm curious how that storyline and the storyline with the detective are going to tie into everything else, though. It was really sad seeing how much George wanted Odi to remember and to feel. He does seem more human than most of the other Synths, but it seems like there's a limit to how human the non-singularity synths can be.
And that scene with Anita right at the start of the episode confused me a bit. Was that right after she was manufactured, and maybe that's part of why she's a singularity? Or was it after she was reprogrammed, and that's why she starts to remember things from before? Or was it after she was manufactured, and the reason she looked up at the moon was because she was a singularity? It probably doesn't matter too much, I'd just like to know where that scene falls in the timeline.
Also, I really like a lot of the characters. Joe seems really cool, and I also really like George. Right now, Leo is probably my favorite character. It's between the three of them, anyway.

Going to copy what I wrote about my thoughts on Humans from tumblr: I want to start of by saying that my own “Uncanny Valley” is fairly narrow. I know there are people who get freaked out even by weird animation(my mom doesn’t like The Polar Express because of this), but for most people, my Uncanny Valley is fairly narrow. Most things don’t faze me. But when something lands in my Uncanny Valley, it hits perfectly, and it freaks me the fuck out.
Humans is one of just a few things that does that.
I really just want to point out how good all the Synth actors are; from major characters like Anita/Mia, Max, Fred, and Odi, and even to the random synths just around the city. There movements are so jerky and the looks they give and their expressions are so…. not right. Even how they talk is so cold and calculated.
I think the only Synth actor who failed to impress me was whoever plays Niska. Yes, I know that Niska is one of the singularities and acts more human than the others, but even compared to Max or Fred, she wasn’t acting like a synth. In fact, if not for the glowing blue/green eyes that all the synths have, I would have had no idea she was supposed to be one.
But aside from that, the acting is fantastic, and not just for the synth actors. The acting is just phenomenal across the board, and for how inhuman the Synths manage to be, everyone else manages to be very human and real.
And, another special shout out to the singularities with the exception of Niska, and with the addition of Odi. They have to balance that. To act like both a human and a machine, and they do it wonderfully. But, especially to Odi, who manages to draw real compassion from the audience(as according to me and my friend who watched it), but acts almost completely like a machine.
Each part of the story managed to be equally compelling. Leo’s quest to track down the singularities, Joe and his family getting used to having a synthetic around, and George denying the fact that Odi is dying.
I honestly couldn’t say I was drawn to one part of the story more than I was to another. Joe’s storyline gets the most attention this episode, but even so, the others managed to be just as captivating. I don’t think there was a single moment I was bored watching it.
Seeing the dynamic of the Hawkins family and how that changed once Anita was introduced was interesting, and it felt real, which is the fact that I believe deserves the most praise. The show does this with almost everything, balancing this feeling of it being both real and unreal.
It was pretty great to see Laura trying to figure Anita out, and feeling threatened by her presence. The fact that she wanted Anita to stay away form her children, but she’s already more of a mom to them than she was.
And of course, getting flashes into Anita’s past as she struggles to remember some things, and isn’t quite acting like a normal synth.
George and Odi’s story was honestly heart-breaking. I like the idea that Odi was meant to take care of George, but now it’s George taking care of Odi as he comes to the end of his “life”.
Like I said, the actor who plays Odi may just be the best actor in the whole show. He’s not a singularity, he doesn’t have real human emotions, yet he manages to draw sympathy and compassion from the audience.
And it’s just horribly sad seeing George treat Odi like a son, and Odi not understanding. He really is just another machine, but to George, he’s more than that.
Not much affecting the over-arching plot happens with George and Odi in the first episode, but it’s one of the most interesting parts nonetheless.
Leo’s storyline is the closest tied to what appears to be the main overarching plot of Humans. The fact that some synths have “malfunctioned” and have real human emotions, or at the very least, an ever-evolving reflection of human life.
The organization behind the creation of the synths are afraid of these “freaks” because they are the singularity, the moment when technology surpasses human beings.
For reasons yet unknown, Leo is protecting four of them: Max, Fred, Niska, and Mia(later known as Anita). Of course, right near the start of the episode, all but Max are captured.
The rest of Leo’s story for the episode follows him trying to find out where Mia is, and trying to get Niska and Fred back.
There’s a whole lot of intrigue in this part of the plot, but I’m once again surprised by the amount of heart and emotion in it. Max and Leo care for the rest of them, they’re desperate to get them back.
The show manages to balance a feeling of falseness and real life, but with each part of it, there’s genuine heart and emotion.
The acting is fantastic, as if the writing, dialogue, and cinematography. As far as quality in those terms, it’s top-notch.
Even after one episode, I genuinely care about the characters, and I’m invested in the story, waiting eagerly to see what happens next. I would most definitely recommend this to people able to handle that feeling of the Uncanny Valley.

Can't stop thinking of Gilliam from Snowpiercer when I see him though, even though he looked completely different in that. I honestly couldn't pick a favorite right now after just one episode. I mean, I thought this show was going to be good, so, I had some fairly high expectations, but that was a fantastic premiere. So far, it's gone above and beyond my expectations.

I didn't really have much expectations for it, I figured it'd be interesting because AMC plastered the fuckin' promos all over when they were playing some movies on there. Very intriguing premiere, tho. I agree with the acting.

It WAS Job Killer but since I made my picture Ramsay he put it as Dick Killer.

That 7 Days in Hell thing with Andy Samberg and Kit Harington that's going to be on HBO looks like it could be funny as fuck.
