P.S. by far my favorite moment of the episode...
"Is that a fucking e-cigarette?"
Because seriously, why are they in the show.

He clearly does, which is quite hypocritical, I think he is repressing it. Not that I care, he is still the weakest character with the least amount of screentime. He did get more screentime then he has been getting this episode but he's still kinda boring. Yep. more screentime, but still not interesting, hell so far, I say if they cut him and put even more focus on Ray Velcoro, then we would be better off!

Woah woah woah woah. Let's not all gang up on Paulie Boy. You can't tell me that any of the four characters, save for Velcoro, are anything impressive. Like I said, McAdams isn't doing anything. VV's situation couldn't be more confusing. I wanna know the fucked up shit that happened to Paul badly. His family situation is weird and shitty, fucked up shit happened overseas because he tries to commit suicide and can't do it, he might be gay... there's a lot going on there and he's given the least amount of screen time to cover any of it.

Which is why it would be best if we had three main characters and not four, because we will get very little screentime for somebody.

OK, then get rid of Rachel McAdams since they have no idea what to do with her and it's clear they just needed a female after the show was criticized for being too male-driven.

I like her character a bit but like I don't get her purpose... Velcoro's partner who is trying to.... win the case to her department?

Seems to me her only direction is to watch Velcoro and pick up any dirt on him. It's funny, she's first in command, the lead in the investigation... but that's simply a meaningless title and other than that, she's just a typical female character. Her job is to oversee and observation a character that's much more complex, interesting, developed and focal than her.

TEAM VELCORO BROTATO DO IT I am completely on board with this idea, best character on the show currently, he is running circles around everybody else, and is the main reason to even watch season 2.

Plz be #TeamPaul. We are dreadfully underrepresented. Don't you only really like him cus he was in FNL? ALL THAT IS MISSING IS THE GORG FLOW In all honesty, Paul is a really interesting character. I absolutely believe that. I'm not going to lie and say Taylor Kitsch's TV character past didn't infuse some bias early on, but we're almost halfway done with the season. My interest is more peaked in Paul's stuff than *goes to look up Rachel McAdams' character's name* Ani's (that's her name? Gun to my head, I'd die 100 times out of 100, never would have guessed) or Frank's. Yes, Velcoro is easily the most interesting. That'll happen when you're a mustachioed nutcase that has a fat ginger son that you openly call a pussy whose real father is a rapist and that will go to a bully's house and beat the living shit out of his father with brass knuckles. I won't argue against Velcoro one bit. He's the man and a fuckin' outstanding character. (Side note: I definitely think he's going to die by the end though. True Detective didn't kill off Rust or Marty last year so someone's gotta go this year.) I have to make my #2 my #1 out of loyalty... and uniqueness. I'm a stickler for going against the tides.

Velcoro is obviously the best characters.
I actually do like Frank, and I can buy Vince Vaughn as a mob boss..... but they've just fucking thrown us into his over-complicated story head-first. I have no idea what's really going on in his story.
Ani is.... eeeeehhhh..... Yeah, weakest character, definitely.
Paul's cool I guess. I do want to know more about his past.
Also, I actually really liked the opening scene. It was pretty well done, and no weirder than some of Rust's hallucinations.

Yep, it was a good scene, though I still think him getting shot was a bit cheap, but hey, good scene!
