I just finished AC III a few minutes ago, really great game, I'd say that it is no where near to being the worst. I still liked it better than Brotherhood, which, excluding the first, is in my opinion the worst of the series. Disconnected story telling, weak villain, all around weak characters, a lot of ridiculous moments(Leo's "War Machines"), boring and pointless story missions, way too many side missions; all of them repetitive and not that fun.
All of them were really fun and I really liked the story, both in the past and present, with two exceptions: the original, and Brotherhood. After the first few hours, playing Brotherhood felt like trying to swim through maple syrup, being promised there's a prize at the end, and the prize is like... a bag of peanuts. Assassin's Creed I was just repetitive. Still quite fun though. And for all my complaining of Brotherhood, I would in no way call it a bad game. Just... It got really fucking boring.
I actually really liked Connor, as well as all the stories connected to the townsfolk, and I really enjoyed that each Assassin Recruit was a set character, rather than being random people you don't give a shit about. The present day stuff was pretty great too. Honestly, not a lot I can complain about.
So now, as soon as it finishes installing, I'm going to jump right into Black Flag. I'm a little curious as to how the present Day stuff will hold up as to everything there was with Desmond, but I've no doubt the majority of the game within the Animus will be phenomenal.

Well, I had a really fucking annoying time trying to fix some serious Audio Lag, but I'm in Havanna now, sill not quite into the meat of the game, but Holy Shit, this is already more fun than any of the others. Makes Brotherhood look like watching paint dry.
I'm going to miss Shaun's witty comments in the database entries, but all the Abstergo Employees making notes about how they should edit it is also kind of funny.

Nope and nope, they won't do anything in Asia because they claim it's been over done, when Pirates are not really anything new, yeah I don't get it at all, and it seems so perfect, just pick the 16th century, you would have plenty of noteworthy people to kill, and you know, all the Assassins Creed isms. Actually, I checked, they're doing a DLC or something in China. "Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China". So, it's Brotherhood, Revelations, Black Flag, Unity, Rogue, Altair's Chronicles, Bloodlines, Pirates, Liberation, Identity, not to mention Initiates, Project Legacy, Brahman, The Fall, Lineage, Embers... and many, many more. After AC1 we were flooded with so many titles and spin-offs that I can't even pinpoint the moment when this franchise went wrong.

Yeah AC3 was not the worst, it did have it's good moments, I did really like the new assassins having names and personality, that was cool, and I thought the antagonist's were really good, probably because you got to meet them very early on, and the side characters were pretty cool, and trust me, Black Flag is quite a ton of fun.

And it just reminded me of The Tyranny of King Washington. I'm starting to wonder what will happen if Ubisoft runs out of titles. BTW - didn't the developers say that Black Flag received 'IV' in the title, because each numbered entry represents a step forward for the series and major changes in gameplay? Well, by that logic, Unity is either a step back or provides nothing new or revolutionary in terms of gameplay (e.g. like Revelations), thus it doesn't deserve 'V' in the title. Is Ubisoft giving us a hint that we shouldn't expect too much?

Well, by that logic, Unity is either a step back or provides nothing new or revolutionary in terms of gameplay (e.g. like Revelations), thus it doesn't deserve 'V' in the title. Is Ubisoft giving us a hint that we shouldn't expect too much? According to them, Unity has completely rebuilt the three main factors in the series. Parkour: Just by looking at video, you can see it's much smoother, Arno can do some pretty cool things, biggest thing is downward movement. Combat: Much harder, no more insta-kills, removal of kill streaks, counters are severally nerfed, much more like fencing, even a single enemy could kill you if you fuck up. So basically, you can't kills entire armies anymore. Stealth: It exists. Aside from that, they've added a lot of other cool stuff: Co-Op: Not the important, but, you know, it seems to be done well, so it's not a bad thing. New Missions: Black Box and AMA: Black Box: These are usually main stories missions, such as assassinations. It gives you one goal only, and you can accomplish that goal anyway you want. There are oppurtunities to exploit(some are random), and it doesn't limit you in any way. Eavesdrop on some people to find a way into the building, or rally the mob to attack it, come in from above, use tunnels by stealing a key off the guard, anything really. It just tells you who you need to kill(or in heists, what you need to steal), and then says, "Go!". These actually look pretty cool in Co-Op. In the one they showed, the group had to infiltrate a mansion where the mob was rallying outside it. Two of them approached stealthily, while the guy playing and someone else attacked the guards, allowing the mob to rush in and overwhelm the rest. In the chaos, they joined up with the others, and made their way through the palace. It was pretty cool. AMA: Adaptive Missions. You know how before you'd get a tail mission, and if they saw you, you'd be desynchronized? Now, the mission adapts to what you do. It might start off as a tail mission, meaning that's probably the best approach, but if you get caught, then you can easily chase them down and kill/interrogate them. If you lose track of them, it becomes a locate mission, where you might have to eavesdrop on them once you find them, on and on and on. If you fail to get what you need, it will desynchronize you, but similar to the black boc missions, there aren't too many limits, and it will adapt to what you do. More Narrative Sidequests: Not really something new, but just a promise that each side quest will tell a story, which I really like. As opposed to: Deliver letters for money! Find me items! Do this for reasons!

Turn off motion blur it helped for me. and yes the beginning is fucking gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood. Literally everything but anti-aliasing is off, I'm still getting some audio lag in cutscenes and what not. Really annoying, especially since the game is running totally fine outside of cut scenes.

Good god that all sounds really awesome, I mean I loved AC4 to death, but they really didn't change the combat all that much, which was fine with me, but I felt it had to change next game or I am going to have problems, and it seems they really did change it, and thank fucking god tail missions are no longer a pain in the ass!

So what's the difference between Rogue and Unity Well for one, different stories. Rogue follows Shay Patrick Cormack, an Assassin in the American Brotherhood, led by Achilles(This is a prequel to AC III). Shay finds out that he unintentionally killed innocents for the assassins, and betrays them, joining the Templars. As such, the gameplay changes to accommodate: You fight assassins, and they do all the things you did in previous games, hiding in tall grass, stalking from rooftops waiting to strike. If you aren't on your guard, it's game over. It takes some things from multiplayer, you hear a low whispering when they're near, and in eagle vision, you have the locator bar, which fills up when you get near them. Your ship, the Morrigan is smaller and faster than the Aquila or Jackdaw, and comes equip with a primitive machine gun, as well as some other cool things. Enemies will board your ship if they get near, meaning you'll have to fight them off to protect your crew. Also, swimming is dangerous in the North Atlantic. If you stay in the water too long, Shay will freeze to death. More outside environments in the vein of III and Black Flag, most are in the icy north. I'm not sure if Rogue has the same Black Box and AMA missions types as Unity, but I think it might? I really have no clue. Unity takes place in Paris, so more akin to Brotherhood, Revelations, II, etc. It's also their biggest map, 3X the size of Black Flag(this being due to the 1:1 scale). It follows Arno Victor Dorian, a French noble who's father, an assassin, was murdered. Later in life, his step-father is also murdered, and he is blamed. He goes to join the assassins, both to help the Revolution, and also to hunt down the killer(or killers), while his half-sister Elise joins the Templars, seeking revenge for her father's murder, but not at all concerned with the battle between Templars and Assassins. It focuses much more on Stealth. In Rogue, Shay has all the latest weaponry and armor, so while combat is still harder than it previously was, it's still mostly hacking down enemy after enemy, just without kill streaks and such. In Unity, even a single enemy could overpower you if you're not careful, so it's better to go with stealth, which is actually finally added in Unity, so now we can really call AC a stealth series. AMA and Black Box missions. Better Parkour. I've said a lot of this before. Basically, Rogue adds a lot of one time things being a "Templar" game, and Unity really finally builds on the basic formula of Assassin's Creed for the first time since II.

Well.. that sucks. Dem cutscenes were good. It's a little better with all the stuff off, and the game doesn't look much worse, but yeah, it sucks.
