I found it. I found the Start of the TFTWL Trilogy!!! wow, feels kind of abstract knowing this is what inspired it. Yeah, the trilogy that almost got blasted away  Jesus, so many memories  I still remember that conversation like it was yesterday  ah, back when I was NFTS. |

I've disliked far more anime than I've liked. I suppose it would be more accurate to say that I dislike anime tropes. I mean, even within what I quoted from Harp, I agree with the last bit, Cowboy Bebop is amazing. But it doesn't really have many of the things most anime does.
I loved the original Hellsing, which was dead serious 100% of the time with none of the cutsie weird shit most anime does.
I also loved Hellsing Ultimate, but those weird typical "anime" things it did every now and again brought me out of it. But... it's still Hellsing, so... yeah. (plus, it had way better animation than the original, even if the story was a little fucking insane)
I also really liked Bibliotheca Mystica de Dantalian... which was a very western style anime(despite having no dub), and like Hellsing, was mostly serious.
Not saying I can't enjoy more light hearted anime. Despite being, at best, really fucking creepy at times, I enjoyed Black Butler, and I didn't mind the more "anime" parts of Fullmetal Alchemist.
And I liked Angel Beats, which was just fucking hilarious.
So... I'm not dismissing all anime. I simply dislike more anime than I actually like, and I, for the most part, can't stand the anime tropes present in most of them. |
